If I wanted to find out more about the EU, surely I would go to the EU website? I thought UKIP was about bringing about an independent UK, why not tell people what an independent UK would be like ?

You tried navigating the EU website - its a minefield of difficulty. This site automatically collates every outpouring they publish for you. At present it is collating all data but in a day or two will start publishing up to the minute data.

Not every outpouring is easily available on the EU site and even then without a load of digging.

On your last point, not everyone is aware of the 'hold' the EU has on this country - this site will bring that home to them pdq!
