UKIP's Alan Latham was elected to Seaford Town Council yesterday, beating the Tories, Labour and Lib Dems.
The result was:
UKIP 428
Con 365
LD 344
Lab 105
Well done Alan, that's a great result.

Mr latham has had a long battle to achieve election to the local Council for which he has stood in the past on a number of occasions. This time with the local Conservatives split at town Council level over a recent 10% hike in the Council precept ,and the opposition Liberal Democrats putting their faith in an "ethnic" candidate, though one who has lived for many years locally, it was clear that with unrest nationally over Coalitioon policies, UKIP had probably their best opportunity.
A local politician of my acquaintance likened the result to that of GeorgeGalloway in Bradford North. More interesting on the national level is that Labour polled a derisory figure of just over 100, in an Ward with a large amount of Council and former council housing.
I look forward to seeing how Dr Latham performs at the Town Council; but I fear that the existing Council leadership will not exactly welcome him with open arms.
