A Conservative councillor in Great Yarmouth has defected to UKIP over the undemocratic deselection of a long-standing councillor.
Cllr Sue Hacon, who represents Bradwell South & Hopton on Great Yarmouth Borough Council, says that the deselection of 80 year old Jim Shrimplin against the wishes of the majority of the Conservative group shows that the wishes of the majority aren't respected and that she has become disillusioned because of it.
Labour has the largest group on Great Yarmouth Borough Council with 15 members, the Conservatives now have 14 and UKIP have 11.
