Brent Labour councillor convicted of dangerous driving and ABH

A Labour councillor in London has been convicted of dangerous driving and inflicting actual bodily harm.

Cllr Zaffar Van Kalwala, who represents Stonebridge ward on Brent LBC, will be sentenced later this month. He has been released on bail and suspended from the Labour Party. He has attended just one meeting in over 6 months in order to meet the minimum required by law to keep remain a councillor.

Labour councillor charged with dangerous driving and attempted wounding

A Labour councillor in Brent has been suspended by his local party after being charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident and attempted wounding with intent.

Cllr Zaffar Van Kalwala pleaded innocent at Hendon Magistrates Court and was granted unconditional bail.
