Lord Pearson took a trip up the M6 today to visit Christopher Gill, the UKIP candidate for South Shropshire.
South Shropshire is a target seat for UKIP with Chris Gill (who was Conservative MP for the constituency a decade ago) worrying the incumbent Tory, Philip Dunne, so much that he's spent the last few days scaremongering about a hung election. Rather than spending the last couple of days of the election campaign giving people a positive reason why they should vote for him, he has instead been making up bizarre scare stories about how interest rates will go up with a hung parliament!
Lord Pearson was shown around Bridgnorth by (amongst others) Shropshire PPCs Christopher Gill, Councillor Denis Allen and Malcolm Hurst; Councillor Derek Armstrong and UKIP NEC member, Councillor Jill Seymour.
Meanwhile, the Shropshire Star is very much of the opinion that Chris Gill is going to cause an upset on Thursday.

Jill Seymour statement on NEC resignation
Back in October, the EU activist and Junius blogger, Greg Limp-Wrist, wrote one of his rambling anti-UKIP posts about Jill Seymour in which he made up a story about her resignation from the NEC.
Like most people, Jill doesn't bother reading the JEUnius blog and has only just seen the drivel Greg Limp-Wrist wrote but she has asked us to publish the following statement in response to it:
Simply, I shall be attending just 3 more meetings before the next NEC Election. I did not quit in disgust, it was in fact due to party rules that you cannot sit on the NEC if employed by a MEP. Regarding Mr West I did feel no candidate should have had a video exposed in the way it was and made my feelings known. Material matter on any candidate should always be treated with respect and sensitivity. We are not career politicians but people that care for this country. I do have a very personal view on many things within UKIP and have never always followed any one individual. I would also like it if he was so kind to note my name is Jill Seymour.

Leafleting in Shifnal
Former NEC member, MEP-in-waiting and UKIP parish councillor, Jill Seymour, is standing in the upcoming by-election for the Shifnal Rural ward.
A leafleting session has been arranged for today and members from all over the West Midlands euroregion will be in Shifnal to help out. If you are at a loose end today, feel free to come along (I'll be there).
The meeting point is the car park behind the Co-op on Shifnal High Street. Meeting time is 11:30am and maps will be provided. For a map of the location, click here.

UKIP Telford & Wrekin Christmas Party
UKIP Telford & Wrekin had their Christmas party on Monday (my first Christmas party of the year).
The party was, naturally, organised by the formidable Jill Seymour and among the guests were Mike Nattrass MEP, Nikki Sinclair MEP and a number of PPCs, including Telford & Wrekin PPCs Councillor Denis Allen and Malcolm Hurst and Solihull PPC John Ison.
Telford & Wrekin's veteran activist, Councillor Ray Knight, was presented with a medal for outstanding service to the party by Mike Nattrass and Nikki Sinclaire.

More lies and libel from EU mole Junius
The EU-sponsored anti-UKIP blogger, Junius, has quoted a now deleted post at the similarly anti-UKIP blog "True UKIP" claiming Jill Seymour has thrown in the towel with UKIP.
The Junius version of recent events is - as with pretty much every bile-filled piece of EU propaganda on his blog - based on a dodgy dossier compiled by EU moles.
Jill Seymour was offered a job by Nikki Sinclaire MEP after the election. Jill took the job and resigned from the NEC because the party rules ban NEC members from taking paid employment by the party. Jill subsequently resigned from Nikki's staff, partly because of personal differences, but mainly through illness. She is considering standing for election to the NEC again in the next round of elections.
Has she abandoned the party? No. Was money (or a supposed lack of it) anything to do with her resignation? Hardly. Junius' researchers at the EU obviously aren't very good at their job because it's hardly the best kept secret that the Seymours are considerably better off that your average UKIPper - a brief look at the list of donations to the party will tell you that. In her own words, she only wants a job that pays her phone bill - pocket money.
Jill is still very much involved with UKIP and running the election campaign for two PPCs. The general rule of thumb with anything written by JunEUs is take it with not so much a pinch of salt but more a sack full and this is certainly no exception to that rule.

Sutton Coldfield Action Day Reports Great Success
Yesterday saw another successful UKIP campaign day this time in Sutton Coldfield. 24 activists including Mike Nattrass MEP , Number 2 candidate Nikki Sinclaire and NEC member Jill Seymour blitzed the area with information packs. These days are proving more and more successful and the requests for information and membership are increasing. No doubt due to the publics growing realisation about the corrupt and doomed EU.
Over 10,000 packs were distributed during the day and our volunteers were received well by the general public. Many of whom took time to ask questions and offer their support, many offering to display billboards during the election. After a morning of leafleting and sigining new members up on the spot the teams split into two groups. The one toured the town on the regions new UKIP bus fitted with a high quality speaker system on its first public outing while the others continued leafleting. The day was a great success and the team have vowed to return to the town before the election.

All in all a good day , the sun was shining and our leaflets flew out. Labour are in a state of meltdown, the Liberal Democrats have vanished altogether and the Tories don't want to talk about anything - especially our enslavement to the EU in case it costs them votes. No problems like that in UKIP, our campaign is well and truly underway.
Watch out for the bus if your in the West Midlands !

Rustie Lee To Stand As MEP
UKIP in the West Midlands launched its European election campaign on Monday 20th April, 2009. With the withdrawel of a candidate back in January from the West Midlands list, Rustie asked if she could step in. She said on the eve of her acceptance:I am proud of the country in which I was born and I am proud to be British. There is no substitute for freedom and independence but neither can apply under the political domination of the EU or any other foreign Empire.
Friends tell me I am a happy person, but the EU causes me concern and sadness because I believe the British people were tricked into losing their country. We must all stand together to say YES to friendship and trade with Europe but loudly to say NO to political union. There is a whole world out there with people who want to trade with us without the unnecessary constraints of EU red tape. Together we can cook up independence; it’s a piece of cake.
Good luck to her .The full list of UKIP European election candidates in the West Midlands are: Mike Nattrass MEP, Nikki Sinclaire, Jill Seymour, Rustie Lee, Malcolm Hurst and Jonathan Oakton - make sure you vote UKIP on June 4th if you want your country back and want to 'Say No' to EU rule.
