Labour activist threatened with expulsion over homophobia named as one of their top activists

The Labour Party activist threatened with expulsion from his party for making homophobic comments about one of his Lib Dem rivals and eventually reported to the police over his offensive remarks has made number 9 on Labour North West's leaderboard for making political capital.

This slightly juvenile leaderboard gives points to Labour activists and politicians whenever they make political capital out of something. Ed Miliband is of course at the top of the list which says a lot about the political prowess of Labour politicians but it was surprising to find Stephen Poulson on the list at all with his behaviour over the last couple of years, let alone having his prehistoric attitudes glorified by putting him on a top 10 list of political activists.

Reinstate Rob Ager

The Torygraph is reporting that a "UKIP politician" has been sacked for writing scripts for porn movies.

As far as I can tell, Rob Ager isn't a councillor and he's not an MEP so he's not a politician.  Being a branch chairman doesn't make you a politician - I was once a branch chairman and I'm certainly not a politician!

But that's by the by.  I really don't understand why the party feels it necessary to suspend Ager because he makes mucky films.  We're supposed to be a party built on libertarian ideals, defending personal rights and responsibilities from an overbearing state.

Unless there is more to this story that the Torygraph are reporting, there is no reason for Ager to be suspended and he should be reinstated as soon as possible.

UKIP Chairman blasts Brown over Hillsborough 20 th year remembrance

Gordon Brown didn´t go to the 20 th year commemoration of the Hillsborough disaster, sending instead Andy Burnham a low ranking Cabinet member in his stead who was quite rightly booed by the crowd.

"This is a double blow to the people of Liverpool and those who lost their loved ones that awful day 20 years ago" said Paul Nuttall, UKIP Party Chairman. "That the Prime Minister couldn´t even be bothered to turn up is disgraceful but he then compounds it by announcing that there will be no enquiry into what really went on that day. "Without an enquiry we can never find out who was at fault. Without that there can never be proper compensation nor closure for those injured and those the 96 dead left behind.

"I was lucky that day, as a 12 year old I walked away" continued Nuttal. "But too many did not, were crushed and killed, and we need to find out why, who made the mistakes. "Gordon Brown will not be welcome in Liverpool after this slap in the face he has given today, after this double betrayal."
