UKIP Hartlepool makes spoof application for EU grant

Hartlepool branch of UKIP made a spoof application to the Europe Direct EU propaganda quango for a grant to hold a celebration of European Day of Languages and was sent an email confirming that they were entitled to a £50 grant!

In addition to the £50 grant they were also offered free bunting, maps and books.

Europe Direct figured out for themselves that the application was suspect when Hartlepool branch members kept stalling them and have reported the branch to Durham County Council's "fair trading officer" (presumably the new name for trading standards) as a "seemingly scam applicant" and not at all out of spite for being made to look like idiots.

Hartlepool branch made the spoof application to highlight the willingness of the European Empire to hand over our money to all and sundry for propaganda purposes.  No money changed hands.

Lastest By-Election Result

UKIP finished second last night in Hartlepool with a good gap between us and 3rd place. Turnout was 1,257 (26%) of which almost 500 (40%) were postal votes, coincidentally this was almost exactly the Labour vote! The Labour party threw the kitchen sink at this one and had everyone from Chairman of the Council, the Leader of the Labour Group and just about every sitting Councilor, family, friends and relatives working the ward. They couldn't put this amount of effort into a single ward outside a by election!

BNP tried hard last Saturday to win the seat they had about a dozen canvassers, sixteen leafleters, and enough people to run two stalls and got several banners up in high profile locations. Shame they was crushed , NOT !!

Vote For Dave Pascoe In Rossmere Ward

A by-election is to be held on May 7th for the Council Seat left vacant following the sad death of Rossmere Councillor Michael Johnson in February. Mick and Dave were opposed politically but they conducted their opposition without personal animosity. They often ‘crossed swords’ during campaigns and debate was always ‘lively’. RIP Mick.

Vote For Dave Pascoe In Rossmere Ward!

Dave lives in Rossmere Ward and has fought this seat four times in the past, each time coming closer to winning with an increased vote every time. In 2008 Dave broke through into second place when the Liberal Democrat vote collapsed.

Only UKIP is a credible alternative to Labour in Rossmere Ward. Tories or Lib-Dems can’t win in Rossmere and Labour will be lining up one of their Party Faithful who will expect to take the seat by right. I hope the residents of Rossmere don’t allow themselves to be taken for granted!

UKIP wanted the election to be held on June 4th since this would have reduced the costs of holding the election as it would have been on the same day as the European Parliament Elections. However, the current politicians don’t care about how much of your money they waste and they have decided that saving money isn’t important.

Politicians can promise you the earth but they can’t give you a cup of tea!

UKIP Quiz Night

The Hartlepool Branch of UKIP are holding a Quiz Night on Thursday 26th February 2009. The Venue will be the Hartlepool Cricket Club and the evening will start at 8.45 pm . Tickets are £1.50 each which includes a free raffle and a light snack. All Members and supporters Welcome.

Tickets can be bought in advance or you can pay on the door but it would be helpful to know in advance anyone who intends coming to the quiz.
