UKIP candidate gives up his job to campaign in by-election as the Green candidate concedes defeat

Glenn Tingle, the UK Independence Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Norwich North has committed himself full time to his ‘Clean Start for Norwich North’ by-election campaign by giving up his job as a contracts manager for a local engineering company. Mr Tingle formally submitted his nomination papers on Monday (6th July).

He said: “I did not feel that I could fully commit myself as a candidate, while trying to hold down a job. For me, the ‘Clean Start for Norwich North’ campaign is far too important to be going at it with anything less than 100% concentration. It was also unfair to my employer. The voters are crying out for a fresh start and they won’t get that from any of the other parties.

“The Tories have chosen a youngster, who works in London and who has very limited knowledge of local issues and the Lib Dems have brought in a failed candidate from another local constituency. The Labour Party is in meltdown and the Green Party has chosen Rupert Read, who has already conceded defeat in the by-election, in comments he made to the Times last Friday. Not the most inspiring field to choose from unless you vote for Glenn Tingle and a ‘Clean Start for Norwich North’.”

UKIP's momentum in the Norwich North by-election is definetly building with dozens of UKIP's activists canvassing and leafletting the length and breadth of the constituency. They have been joined by UKIP's MEPs in the Eastern region David Campbell Bannerman and Stuart Agnew, as well as two other MEPs UKIP Leader Nigel Farage and Party Chairman Paul Nuttall. Other MEPs will shortly touch down in Norwich to help out in what has so far been a big campaign for the Party .

However, we do want more UKIP members and activists to help with the effort. The aim is to carry on the huge momentum created by UKIP's second place finish in the European Election, but this can only be done if every UKIP member does all that they can so please get in touch and get involved! To get involved please call UKIP's Norwich Campaign HQ (166 Wroxham Road, NR7 8DE) at 01603 412643

Sunday Public Meeting Success!

On Sunday 17th May, The Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle Upon Tyne saw UKIP Leader, Nigel Farage and Chairman Paul Nuttall.

UKIP North East's Lead Candidate, Gordon Parkin also made a speech outlining the reasons why we should vote for UKIP on June 4th. The meeting itself was a success with about 50 attending and the event being covered by BBC Look North. The day was chaired by UKIP No3 Candidate, John Tennant.

Paul Nuttall, Party Chairman, opened the proceedings with a talk on UKIP's professional Campaign in 2009. The first time UKIP has ever run a completely professional Campaign with the backing of two National Newspapers and a Nationwide Billboard Campaign. Paul also outlined the possibility of UKIP defeating the Governing Labour Party in these EU Elections.

Following on, Nigel Farage made a half-hour speech about his experiences in the European Parliament, and the hard work UKIP has put in to be a voice of opposition. For the last Ten years, UKIP has been the sole voice of Opposition, and that is important in a democratic system. Something the EU Commission fails to understand.

Gordon Parkin rounded off the day with a speech about what he would do if elected to the EU Parliament. To make sure that UKIP's voice is heard and that we actively seek Britain's withdrawal from the European Union.

The day was enjoyable, and the lively questions from the audience were welcomed indeed. There was also opportunity for the audience to speak to the panellists and there was a general feeling of support for UKIP on June 4th.

UKIP National Spring Rally

At the request of the Party Leader, the annual UKIP South West Rally will become a National Spring Rally this year. It will also serve as a European Election Launch and be followed by the Annual Business Meeting.

The date is Saturday 18th April and the location is the Great Hall of Exeter University, Stocker Road, Exeter EX4 4PY. Parking should be plentiful and coaches can drop off directly at the front door.

The timetable will commence at 10.00 a.m. for refreshments and meeting old friends. The Rally will open at 11 a.m. prompt. The morning will be devoted to keynote speakers from around the country. UKIP SW Rallies date back to 2002 and the University always look after us extremely well. Catering facilities are diverse and the SW events have pioneered audio/visual effects, since used by the national party conferences. The South West Rallies normally attract 500 to 600 people but we hope that as a national event it will attract several hundred more this year. It is a superb recruiting occasion and non members are especially welcome.

To speed up registration on the day and establish numbers, tickets will be issued in advance against a donation. Unlike the national annual conference we are not laying down a minimum ticket price and will issue tickets against any size of donation but bear in mind that these events cost a lot of money to lay on. Those without pre-registered tickets can still attend but will be asked to register before entry.

However we do have to estimate the numbers for catering purposes and names for security. You can register by e-mail at the following site. UKIP Launch New Fylde Branch

THERE'S a new party in Fylde. The Fylde Branch of UKIP will officially launch on Friday Night in St Annes.

It will be the first time that the party, which is committed to withdrawing Britain from the European Union, has been active in the Borough. UKIP are inviting Members and non-members alike to the inaugural meeting to get a flavour of what the party stands for. And they will unveil their first two election candidates - 63-year-old local campaigner Bill Whitehead and his son Richard, 24.

The father and son team, who live on St Andrew's Road South, will contest the St Annes North and South seats at the upcoming County Council elections in June.Bill, who was active in the Save St Annes Swimming Baths campaign, said: "We are sick of the way things are being run and decided it was time to do something.

"Our main belief is that we shouldn't be a part of the European union, which is so costly and tells us all what to do, when the money could be spent on British citizens." Also at the meeting will be UKIP MEP Dr John Whittaker and Regional Organiser Dr Fred McGlade, who will provide an update on the progress of the European and County Council campaigns.

Questions will be invited and welcomed at the meeting, something which Bill says will be at the heart of their manifesto. "We want to get back to the old way of doing things, where people were actually listened to. We believe a lot of people in the community are fed up with the Conservatives and will listen to what we have to say. The most important thing is just to get people involved."

The move makes UKIP the second party this year to mount to challenge Fylde Tory supremacy. The meeting will take place on March 27 at St Margaret's Church Hall, St Leonard's Road West, at 7.30pm.
