UKIP councillor in Torbay prevented from giving evidence of sexual abuse

UKIP councillor Julien Parrott walked out of a meeting of Torbay Council on Wednesday in protest after he was prevented from giving councillors evidence of the level of sexual abuse and rape in Torbay.

Cllr Parrott asked whether Torbay was a safe place and after being told by the chair that it was, he attempted to inform councillors of the 32 cases of violence, threats and rape against women and children that had been to court recently and a confidential police report citing 65 cases of child sexual exploitation this year but was prevented from doing so by the chair.

Cllr Parrott walked out in protest, as did a local resident who told the chair "you are a disgrace madam".
