The UK is open for business and the world is knocking at our door

Two Republican senators have introduced a UK Trade Continuity Act to the US Senate to confirm existing Anglo-American trade agreements and establish a bilateral trade deal within 12 months.

Iceland has invited the UK to join a "triangle of nations" in the north Atlantic that aren't part of the EU. The President of Iceland seems to be envisaging a trade alliance with the UK, Iceland, Norway, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

New Zealand has offered to send its top trade negotiator to draw up a trade agreement between the UK and New Zealand whilst Australia and South Korea have called for "immediate talks" on free trade with the UK. India and Canada have also contacted the British government to start trade talks whilst Mexico has already drafted a free trade agreement in anticipation of a Brexit vote.

So much for being "back of the queue" and alone in the world.

Australia's hard line immigration policy has resulted in 600 days without boats full of illegal immigrants

Since implementing a policy of intercepting all illegal immigrant boats and returning them to their country of origin and housing successful asylum seekers in refugee camps on remote islands in the Pacific, Australia has enjoyed 600 days without a single boat load of illegal immigrants entering its waters.

The policy is still criticised by left wingers and there are some issues with the conditions of the camps but their hard line on illegal immigration is hard to describe as anything other than a success. Australia has a huge immigrant population just like the UK but unlike the UK they expect them to live like Australians, not bring all their customs, conflicts and prejudices with them.

If you have skills they need and the ability to financially support yourself then it's not hard to get into Australia. If you don't have any money and are looking for a career as a hand car washer then you're going to be disappointed. Unlike the UK where you'll be welcomed with open arms and given benefits to make up for the fact that washing cars doesn't pay the bills.

British government appealing judge's decision not to deport pregnant Australian

Whilst unlimited numbers of people from the EU are allowed to live in the UK, the Home Office is spending our taxes appealing a judge's ruling that a pregnant Australian woman shouldn't be deported to Australia.

Katherine Tate is an Australian citizen married to a British citizen with two children who are British citizens and is 6 months pregnant with their third child who will also be a British citizen. Her husband, Dale, owns an electrical contracting firm and employs two electricians and two apprentices. The Home Office says that they didn't fill out the paperwork correctly to allow Katherine to live in the UK and gave her 10 days to leave the country. They appealed the decision and a judge at an immigration tribunal ruled that she could stay but the Home Office is appealing that decision through the courts and have even told the NHS not to provide her with healthcare unless she pays.

This is just one of the effects of the stupid immigration system we have where we turn away skilled workers and people who contribute positively to the economy and society to try and mitigate the damaging effects of open door immigration from the EU. The British government would rather have a thousand Romanian fruit pickers than a doctor from India, an engineer from Canada or the wife of a British citizen who doesn't claim benefits and whose husband owns his own company and provides employment for four people.

Why is the British government putting so much money and effort being put into trying to deport this woman whose only crime is to have filled out some paperwork incorrectly when they allow criminals, terrorists and hate preachers to live here because of their human rights? What about the human rights of this family which faces being torn apart because Katherine Tate isn't from an EU country? It's perverse.
