Police Commissioner candidate announced at Corby Launch

UKIP's by-election campaign for Corby was launched today with UKIP candidate Margot Parker joined by UKIP MEPs Nigel Farage, Roger Helmer, Derek Clark and Stuart Agnew and activists from all over the country.

The UKIP candidate for the role of Police & Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire Police, Jim MacArthur, was also officially announced at the Corby campaign launch.  MacArthur has served in the RAF, Army, SAS and as a Special Constable.

East Mids Conservative Future Deputy defects to UKIP

Conservative Future Deputy Chairman in the East Midlands, Jakob Whiten, has defected to UKIP according to Derek Clark MEP.

Like the other Tory defectors over the last month or so, what finally drove him to leave the Conservative & _٨^European Unionist Party was David Cameron's use of the three line whip to force MPs into voting against an EU referendum.

MEP Joins Glenn Tingle on the Campaign Trail

UKIP MEP for the East Midlands , Derek Clark has been out on the streets with Norwich North by-election candidate Glenn Tingle today. The two men spent the afternoon in Sprowston knocking on doors to spread the word about the UK Independence Party’s Clean Start for Norwich North Campaign.

Mr Clark said; “I was delighted to come to Norwich to help Glenn Tingle, who is an ideal candidate – a local man, who really cares about the issues and wants to make a difference.”

Glenn Tingle said: “It was a pleasure to work with Derek, who brings great experience and knowledge to my campaign. He was a natural on the doorsteps of Sprowston!”

Kilroy Silk

Further bad news for Robert Kilroy Silk MEP. His banishment from the jungle in the TV show I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here has been followed by calls for him to be kicked out of the European Parliament.

All the other MEPs for the East Midlands are backing an online petition calling for him to stand down.

UKIP's Derek Clark MEP says: "It's not just that he hasn't been working while in the jungle, it's that he hasn't spoken in the parliament since 2005. No one has seen him in the region for years. We even had a competition for anyone who could spot him – a competition no one in the region could win.

"He's shown nothing but contempt for the people of the East Midlands and should do the honourable thing and resign."

He last spoke in Parliament in October 2005, denying East Midlands electors a voice.He has not been seen in the East Midlands since his failed attempt to be elected at Erewash in the 2005 general Election , and his office is outside the East Midlands at Aylesbury
