Schultz says we have to leave the EU by 2019

The unelected president of the EU Parliament, Martin Schultz, has said that the UK must leave the EU by 2019 so that it's all done and dusted before the next EU elections.

We will leave in 2019 but not because this windbag says so. The next EU elections are due to be held in April or May 2019 and there is no legal basis for excluding the UK from EU elections. The British government won't want to shell out several tens of millions of pounds on a pointless election and more importantly for the pro-EU parties, they won't want the UKIP landslide that is inevitable if Article 50 hasn't been triggered by then.

EU elections are officially declared a month before the poll in the UK and the next elections are due in April or May 2019. Article 50 will need to be triggered in February of March next year to safely avoid the next EU elections. My guess is that Brexit will happen on 31st March making 1st April independence day which also ties in nicely with the new tax year and annual budgets for government departments.

Martin Schulz on a United States of Europe

This is from 2013 but as relevant as ever. Martin Schulz is now President of the EU Parliament which will get to vote on and amend Cameron's new deal if we vote to stay in the EU.

President of the EU Parliament says Cameron's renegotiation won't be legally binding

President of the EU Parliament, Martin Shultz, has told David Cameron that any deal he does with the EU Commission won't be legally binding despite repeated claims by Cameron, the Conservatives and Downing Street that it will be.

Cameron said that his renegotiation will be lodged with the United Nations as a legally binding treaty.

If it is agreed, it will be agreed as a legally binding treaty deposited at the United Nations

But Schultz has dismissed that fantasy, confirming that there will be no treaty change and that it won't become legally binding until MEPs have amended it and voted on it after the referendum.

Cameron has form for inventing treaties. You may recall that in the back end of 2011 we were told that he had vetoed a new EU treaty but after submitting a Freedom of Information request for a copy of the draft treaty, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office replied "no EU Treaty was drafted at the European Council in December".

Euroführer Schulz says "the UK belongs to the EU"

The President of the EU Parliament, Martin Schulz, has told ITV News that "the UK belongs to the EU".

The Euroführer generously conceded that "important member states like the EU have the right to discuss their role within the EU" but we can't change any treaties because then other member states will want to.

A lesson in sovereignty and democracy from Herr Schulz, the man who became EU Parliament president without a single one of the 742.5m people who live in the EU voting for him.

Another German imperialist once said "The Führer takes back what belongs to Germany". It seems that that mentality hasn't strayed far from the political class.

EU budget reduction proposal set to be blocked by MEPs

Ministers have agreed a reduced EU budget for the next 7 years from around €992bn to €960bn but it could still fail to pass through the EU Parliament and the EU's off-budget spending is still out of control.

The Guardian is calling this EU "austerity" but shaving €32bn off a budget of almost a trillion euro to be spent by an organisation that hasn't signed off its own accounts for 17 years because of fraud and waste isn't what most people would call austerity.  The Tory press are calling it a "victory".

As part of this "austerity", the French have secured an extra €1bn for Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) subsidies, making a mockery of numerous promises by Cameron and his cronies to demand CAP reforms.  Off-budget expenditure such as building roads and bridges in poorer countries is protected.

Godfrey Bloom's best mate Martin Schulz MEP is leading the plot to block the reduced budget and has managed to secure a secret ballot on the budget allowing MEPs to vote against it without voters finding out how they voted.

Whilst any reduction in the amount of money the wasteful, corrupt EU gets to spends is a good thing, the UK's payments will actually increase thanks to the new rules agreed by Blair and continued by Cameron that continually reduce the rebate.

Press TV attack UKIP for defending democracy

UKIP is getting some stick - mainly in the left wing press - for refusing to support an attempt by the EU Commission to ban the nationalist group that the BNP and French National Front belong to from receiving EU funding.

Who says news is being dumbed down?

The far left Iranian state TV channel, Press TV, describes UKIP as "far right" and says that the party "backs Euro extremism".  They also say that Godfrey Bloom was expelled from the EU Parliament for "directing a Nazi slogan against a German colleague".

Godfrey was indeed removed from the EU Parliament for quoting Hitler's "ein volk, ein reich, ein führer" at German MEP, Martin Schultz.  But this was a reference to Schultz's fascist behaviour (Schultz has previously called Emperor Barosso a fascist in the EU Parliament and nobody batted an eyelid) rather than him behaving like a Nazi.

UKIP is far from far right and certainly doesn't back any form of extremism.  It's worth remembering the words of First they came for the Jews by Pastor Niemoller, made all the more pertinent with today being Holocaust Memorial Day.

Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Once they've finished with the nationalists, they'll move on to the eurosceptics and then who?

No matter how odious the BNP may be, they were democratically elected in a free and (mostly) fair election.  This isn't about protecting the BNP, it's about protecting democracy.
