Vote of no confidence in Pembrokeshire County Council Chief Executive

Members of Pembrokeshire County Council have passed a vote of no confidence in their Chief Executive over allegedly illegal payments he received in lieu of pension contributions.

The leader of the council, Jamie Adams, survived a vote of no confidence by 29 votes to 20 after supporting Chief Executive, Bryn Parry-Jones.

A number of council staff have resigned after Parry-Jones was allowed to continue working for the council, including the chairman of the council's audit committee who said that he has been intimidated by Parry-Jones threatening to hire a private detective to identify the whistle blower who leaked information relating to an inquiry into grants fraud.

The vote of no confidence in Parry-Jones was passed by 46 votes to 3. He was given a leave of absence for the good of the council but is still working from home.
