A Newcastle man has appeared in front magistrates after being charged with threatening to kill a UKIP candidate.

Aftab Ahmed allegedly threatened to behead UKIP candidate, David Robinson-Young, during a phone call. Ahmed denies making the threat against Robinson-Young, a barrister specialising in employment and discrimination law.

Green Party activists in Brighton rip up newspapers with UKIP adverts on them

These Green activists had such fun ripping UKIP adverts off the front of people's newspapers in a residential block that they even stopped to take pictures. What they didn't realise was that they were being monitored by security officers and they were caught on CCTV committing criminal damage.

UKIP candidate Gurkha "parasites" Twitter account is a FAKE

A fake Twitter account purporting to be UKIP candidate Bill Walker has posted offensive comments referring to Gurkhas as "parasites".

Bill Walker deleted his Twitter account some time ago but it has since been re-registered by another person to smear him. Once again, it is believed to be the work of convicted internet troll, Joshua Bonehill-Paine who has boasted of having a large collection of social media accounts standing by to attack UKIP during this election campaign. He has already admitted to being behind the fake Alex Wood account and the UKIP Voice website.

The UKIP Fact or Fiction website has done the research. It would be nice if the police did some research of their own and if it is Bonehill, get him in front of a magistrate before he harasses anyone else.

Labour candidate for Banff & Buchan suspended over drink driving charges

The Labour parliamentary candidate for Banff & Buchan has been suspended after being charged with drink driving, driving without a licence and driving without an MOT.

Masoomul Sumon Hoque appeared in front of Aberdeen Sheriff Court last week to face the charges.

Lib Dem candidate suspended for alleged electoral fraud

A Lib Dem parliamentary candidate has been suspended over allegations that he falsified his nomination papers.

Patrick Haveron, the Lib Dem candidate for South West Surrey, has been accused of election fraud in relation to his nomination papers to stand for Waverley Borough Council.

UKIP forced to withdraw freephone number over harassing phone calls

After being forced to withdraw the party's freephone number last year after left wing protesters organised a campaign to push up bills by making nuisance calls to it, the party have now had to block withheld numbers after a harassment campaign by a hater.

Whilst we have many positive telephone calls to Head Office, unfortunately, a few like to call and pass on their negative views of UKIP.

Our staff are trained to deal with all calls but we have been targeted by a particularly nasty individual over the last few weeks.  His harassment has been reported to the Devon and Cornwall Police but because he withholds his number, he cannot be traced.

The Police have advised us to block all withheld numbers, which we have done in the interests of the welfare of our staff.

Any guesses what tomorrow's attempt to undermine the democratic process will be?

Conservative candidate suspended over anti-semitic comment

A Conservative candidate in Derby has been suspended for referring to Ed Miliband as "the Jew".

Gulzabeen Afsar said on Facebook that she couldn't take Ed Miliband seriously. A friend jokingly responded that she should have some respect for "the future PM" to which she replied:

Nah bro! never ever will I drop that low and support the Al Yahud! Lol

"Lol" indeed. Al Yahud is Jew in Arabic and she has now been suspended and will face a disciplinary panel.

Perhaps the Home Secretary should have instructed the police to to take a firm line on left wing extremists vandalising property when they were just targeting UKIP rather than letting them think it was acceptable to break the law if their political views are offended?

Greek finance minister abused by €urozone counterparts

The Greek finance minister, Yanis Varoufakis, has been abused by €urozone finance ministers at a meeting in Riga for refusing to cave in to their unacceptable demands.

Varoufakis was called "a time waster, a gambler and an amateur" by his opposite numbers in the EU debt club for failing to agree to more austerity measures in return for another £5.2bn of debt.

It looks increasingly certain that Greece will become the first country to leave the single currency although what form that exit takes remains to be seen. There is no formal mechanism for leaving the €urozone and it's highly likely that the Greek government will want to retain the €uro rather than return to the Drachma so the most likely outcome is that Greece withdraws from the formal currency union but retains the €uro informally in the hope of re-admittance into the €urozone in the future.

Greece desperately needs to devalue to boost exports and bring in hard currency but a Panama-style unilateral currency union isn't going to achieve that. If Greece is going to recover from depression, Syriza needs to give up on the €uro and start formulating a plan for the return of economic sovereignty.

Lord Leicester 1936-2015

We are very sorry to hear of the death of Lord Edward Coke, 7th Earl of Leicester.

Only two weeks ago Lord Leicester joined UKIP and confessed to having supported the party for a number of years. His cousin, Toby Coke, is UKIP's candidate for North West Norfolk.

Lord Leicester was awarded the CBE in 2005 for services to heritage.

Two separate polls have put UKIP ahead in Thurrock and South Thanet.

A Lord Ashcroft poll predicts a victory for Tim Aker who, if he wins, will have become a councillor, MEP and then an MP in just 12 months.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail are claiming that a secret opinion poll commissioned by UKIP shows Mark Reckless losing his seat to the Tories but the party says it hasn't commissioned such a poll. Reckless tweeted:

Far left criminals are making a mockery of the law

As the election gets closer, the campaign of threats, intimidation and vandalism against UKIP candidates and supporters is escalating.

Signs are being stolen and properties are now being vandalised on a daily basis, someone threatened to firebomb Nigel Farage's house on Facebook yesterday and a man has been arrested for threatening to behead a UKIP candidate in Newcastle today.

Nigel Farage's request for police protection for the election campaign was knocked back for a second time earlier this year and the threat posed by criminal gangs of fascist anti-democracy protesters to UKIP candidates and supporters is met with indifference by the police. There is an organised and coordinated campaign to undermine the democratic process and the police are standing by and watching it get out of control. Groups of far left criminals all over the country are making a mockery of the law and the law doesn't care.

Lutfur Rahman stripped of Tower Hamlets mayoralty and banned from seeking re-election

Lutfur Rahman, the man elected as Mayor of Tower Hamlets last year in a rigged election, has been removed from office by a special election court.

Election Commissioner, Richard Mawry, ruled that Rahman and his assistant Alibor Choudhary broke election law on several occasions during the election campaign and whilst in office. He has been stripped of his mayoralty and banned from standing for re-election.

Under his leadership, members of the Tower Hamlets First party engaged in corruption, bribery and exercising undue spiritual influence over voters. An audit by accountants PriceWaterhouseCooper last year found that council officers were overruled in 81% of grant applications and that more than £400k had been given to ineligible organisations.

Tower Hamlets has been run by a Chief Executive and administrators since last year when Communities Secretary, Eric Pickles, appointed them to stop Rahman and his cronies from mismanaging the council.

Let's get behind an English Parliament on St George's Day

Back in September last year, after the result of the Scottish independence referendum had been announced, I wrote about an English Parliament. I've written about an English Parliament - or more specifically, about English devolution - a lot over the years.

I'm no academic but it's made me somewhat of an expert on the subject. I was a National Council member of the Campaign for an English Parliament for quite a long time and I advised Paul Nuttall on his Union for the Future policy proposal. When I had more time on my hands I even won awards for English political blogging and have been in most newspapers and on many national and local radio stations talking about English devolution.

I find the level of unintentional ignorance about devolution and an English Parliament incredibly frustrating. Hearing the same baseless arguments and incorrect claims about breaking up the union, increasing costs and more politicians does nothing for my blood pressure. So instead of addressing the nonsense I'm reading on social media in support of the unworkable, unacceptable constitutional fudge that is English Votes on English Laws in a piecemeal fashion, I've reposted below what I wrote last year ...

Happy St George's Day!

Smile at us, pay us, pass us; but do not quite forget,

For we are the people of England, that never has spoken yet.

For a better life cut out junk foods, just keep the good ones. And cut out the junk migrants, just keep the good ones.

I am pretty fed up with the British pro-EU establishment banging on about 'migration this, migration that' as if migrants are one indivisible blob of being. They talk as if the only choice is between migration with open borders or no migration at all - either you have unlimited migration or none. As if saying anything against any migrant can only mean that you want to end all migration and seal the UK's borders. There may be some in the country who want UK's borders sealed - but if so, I have never met or even heard of them.

In truth British pro-EU establishment have to do this, play this silly game of 'lets pretend we do not understand that there can be a situation other than completely open border or closed borders' because the real alternative of controlled borders with managed migration is not possible while the UK is in the EU. Because the EU control UK migration, and demand we have open borders, the British pro-EU establishment employ childish scare tactics pretending there is no other rational position so that it is nothing to do with the EU, just logic.

This is no different to a bottom of the range, nutrition-free, fat-loaded, additive packed, genetically modified, obesity in a bar, junk food supplier saying that 'food is essential to life, so you can't ban it'. Of course no one is going to think of banning all food just because someone is producing a harmful junk-food product.

In the same way no one (I know of) is suggesting banning migration (although some weird new-age Australian sect do claim to live with out food, on sunlight alone! so there may be some odd-balls who do), most if not all 'opponents of migration' simply oppose the current lack of control and management, just as people oppose obesity inducing junk-food.

Good, healthy, tasty, nutritious meals in sensible quantities are good for a body - Good healthy, decent, skilled migrants in sensible quantities are good for a country.

Bad, unhealthy, un-nutritious, fat laden meals eaten in large quantities are bad for a body and its health - Bad, unhealthy, unskilled, migrants in large quantities are bad for a country and its economy.

So control you intake - keep the good, reject the bad.

For a better life cut out junk foods, and the junk migrants. Just keep the good foods... and good migrants.

And never forget who these British pro-EU establisment people are, who feigned incomprehension just to steamroller you into having their perverse, unhealthy beliefs imposed upon you. They include all the politicians of the Conservative Party, Labour Party, Liberal Democrat Party, the BBC, Common Purpose, the EU, unions, 'Progressives' (communists) and many other groups who consider themselves the elite to control our lives. Remember, and tell your children, never to trust them again. Take it Back.

There are a good number of non-lefty blogs around, so I developed a system to convert any standard blog into a podcast using the latest 'text to speech' technology, not perfect, but Ok for additional content If I could find enough genuine core content.

Now Gaunty has a quality podcast, I think the UK just about has critical mass for my project too!

Natalie Bennett's boyfriend's views on rape, kidnap and paedophilia

Green Party leader, Natalie Bennett's boyfriend has a dubious moral compass where kidnap, rape and paedophilia are concerned if his blog is anything to go by.

Guido runs a story about the blog in which far left extremist, Jim Jepps, makes light of kidnap and rape fantasies, says he is "ambivalent" about teachers having sex with pupils and describes the "kindness and laughter" in the abusive relationship of an Austrian girl who was abducted at the age of 10 and raped repeatedly during the eight years she was held captive.

The Green Party are as ambivalent to their leader's boyfriend's views as he is to teachers shagging their pupils, dismissing his views because he hasn't been a member of the Green Party since 2012. Still, when the Green Party wants to legalise membership of terrorist organisations Jepps' views probably seem quite moderate.

Former UKIP candidate Alex Wood victim of smear campaign again

Convicted internet troll and former Conservative Party activist, Joshua Bonehill-Pain, has been interviewed by the police for harassment yet again, this time over a fake Twitter account harassing a gay poverty campaigner.

Bonehead-Pain-in-the-arse is believed to be running fake social media accounts in the name of Alex Wood, the UKIP candidate who was the victim of a criminal smear campaign in 2013. He is also believed to be behind the fake website claiming to be UKIP candidate, Colin Mair, which has been publishing racist and homophobic content in his name.

UKIP have denounced the fake Twitter account and called the police. Bonehead has bragged about this being his "15th arrest for free speech". Earlier this year he was given spared jail and given community service after being convicted of making false accusations of paedophilia against UKIP supporters.

Opposition Leaders' Debate

Nigel Farage put in a superb performance on last night's opposition leaders' debate on the BBC in the face of an extremely biased audience.

Farage got the first applause of the debate but it quickly became clear that the cheering and applause was largely reserved for the SNP, Greens, Labour and even Plaid. At one point Farage said that the audience was biased and was met with heckling from the audience and an unexpected admission from David Dimbleby that the audience had been "carefully selected" by a polling company to reflect the political balance of the panel which was, of course, all socialist with the exception of Nigel Farage.

It's a little difficult to get any real meaning from Survation's snap polling after the debate because of the presence of the SNP's Nicola Sturgeon who is only relevant in Scotland but whose Tory bashing and magic money tree economics made her very popular. It's clear that Nigel Farage came out very well from the debate, even with the SNP skewing things, it's just not possible to tell how well because of the inclusion of the Scottish and Welsh nationalists. What we needed was an England-only leaders' debate like the Scottish and Welsh only debates they're having in Scotland and Wales but the BBC would never do that.

Although Farage did very well in the polls he would undoubtedly have done better if it was an England-only panel and only people in England were surveyed. The Survation and other polls make interesting reading but they were a bit irrelevant.

UKIP, 5,000,000 votes 1 MP - SNP with 1,000,000 votes 45 MPs.

Not sure I need to add any thing on this blog post - the image says it all.

The figures are approximate from polls etc - but the underlying message is 100% clear - our democracy is broken. The UKIP vote will be about the size of the entire Scottish electorate! But that will still probably lead to UKIP getting one or two MP's while on one fifth of that vote SNP are expected to get over 40 MPs.

As long as voting is based on geographic regions having support focused in specific areas rather than spread will give an unfair advantage in getting representation. This will be true even with an alternative method of counting votes (like AV - which was rejected in a nation wide UK referendum a few years back).

Changing the way MPs are selected (moving away from or adding to the geographic element) has some merit - there used to be non-geographic constituencies so it is not a totally new idea.

However PR (proportional representation) is not a solution. PR means you are voting for a party - not a person - if your candidate is not elected your vote goes towards supporting the party - which basically means supporting the party leader. How would you feel if you voted for a decent local candidate who didn't get in then their party leader used your 'mandate' for some nonsense your candidate would have opposed tooth and claw?

I believe 'liquid democracy' is the way forwards (in one of its various forms) - you don't 'elect' a representative, you simply have the right to nominate a proxy for your vote in parliamentary divisions. Each 'MP' votes with the weight of the proxy's they have been given - you could give different people your proxy for different issues - so Farage on EU matters, someone else for devotion matters etc - and at the end of the day, if you really want, you can vote yourself, directly if you so wish.

But right now, if this result comes to pass and one million (rabidly pro EU and anti English) Scots get to decide the government of the UK, while many times that number of UKIP supporters get almost no representation at all there is going to be a revolution.

UKIP Manifesto 2015

Suzanne Evans launched UKIP's 2015 manifesto today with a surprise gift from the president of the EU Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, whose office confirmed that there will be no renegotiation of EU treaties until 2019 at the earliest, putting paid once and for all to David Cameron's promises of a renegotiation by 2017.

UKIP's manifesto has been incredibly received, not least because it is the first time a party has had their manifesto independently assessed for economic sense rather than marking their own homework. UKIP's manifesto has been inspected by the Centre for Economics & Business Research, an organisation that provides independent economic forecasts to business and government.

There were some unexpected policies in the manifesto such as an intermediate 30% tax rate for earnings between £45,300 to £55,000, stopping companies from offshoring their profits to avoid paying tax, no means testing of free TV licences or winter fuel payments for pensioners and abolishing the Department for Culture, Media & Sport.

I started to pull out the best bits (in my opinion) from the manifesto but Suzanne did such a great job, the best bits turned out to be most of it so rather than reinventing the wheel, you can either read the summary on the UKIP website or download the full manifesto.

Conservative former leader of Cambridgeshire County Council defects to UKIP

Former leader of Cambridgeshire County Council, Nick Clarke, has defected back from the Tories to UKIP.

Clarke was a UKIP parliamentary candidate many years ago who defected to the Conservatives and went on to become leader of the council. He lost his seat in the 2013 local elections when UKIP routed both the Conservatives and Lib Dems, taking 12 seats on the council.

UKIP has the clarity of vision and drive to sustain the Britexit argument over the longer term, not just for one election, or one referendum but for much longer if necessary.

This is absolutely necessary if we are to protect our way of life for our children and our grandchildren.

In my lifetime the UK population has been in the 40 millions. Today according to  the ONS figures it is 64m and rising. In 2012 we had 498,000 long term migrants resulting in net migration of 158,000. Where does it end.

UKIP celebrate migration. Attracting the very best people from around the world is a great thing.
But unrestricted migration from the EU is a bad thing, placing sever demands on our public services and needing ever more houses to be built.

We need a points system like Australia. To  get this we need to leave the EU. This is not about race, creed, sex, politics but about numbers. Our small island is filling up.

Cambridge would benefit from a points based system allowing the very best to study here, from around the world, and then go on to stay and run successful companies.

But it is not just about Europe.

I'm Frustrated with the Conservative party – A feeling that the political classes based in London are increasingly out of touch with real people.

Three Lib Dem councillors defect to UKIP

Three Lib Dem councillors in Somerset have defected to UKIP.

Cllrs Adrian Dobinson, Sharon Snook and Derek Tanswell will stand for re-election to Somerset County Council, Mendip District Council and Frome Town Council next month as UKIP candidates.

Cllr Dobinson, who will lead the UKIP group on the council, said:

The Liberal Democrat group is dysfunctional and unable to co-ordinate an opposition group on the council, let alone run the council if it should win.

Mendip is an appallingly-run council and we have been shocked at some of the things we are uncovering in the council.

Bradford East candidate Owais Rajput assaulted at hustings

UKIP's Bradford East parliamentary candidate, Owais Rajput, was assaulted at a hustings at Bradford Cathedral last night.

Owais Rajput was at the hustings to support Harry Boota, UKIP's candidate for the neighbouring Bradford West constituency. He was verbally abused and then physically assaulted. Rumours have been circulating on social media that the attacker was from the Respect Party but an eyewitness has identified him as a Labour Party activist.

English Democrats candidate defects to UKIP

An English Democrat candidate in Kettering has defected to UKIP.

Kevin Sills has represented the English Democrats at a number of elections but realised that he wants "our country to be free and independent and now realise that UKIP offers the best pathway for this ambition".

The English Democrats switched from supporting an English Parliament within the union to English independence a couple of years ago. At one time they had a very active membership in the north of England and were able to secure the mayoralty of Doncaster with Peter Davies. A huge influx of BNP members and a significant lurch to the far right drove Davies and most of their active campaigners out of the party.

The chairman of the English Democrats, solicitor Robin Tilbrook, launched a vexatious defamation case against me for a blog post written on Bloggers4UKIP calling the English Democrats racist in light of the influx of BNP members into the party. The case was thrown out as it made no reference to him, either express or implied. At the time he called it "a technicality". The judge called it the law. His number two, Steve Uncles, is currently awaiting trial for 10 counts of election fraud relating to last year's local elections where a number of fake candidates and false nominations were submitted, including one that supposedly lived at the house that was demolished to build the house he currently lives in.

Kevin Sills joins a long line of former English Democrats who have joined UKIP and will be seeking election under the UKIP banner this year.

Welsh Labour candidate's racial abuse hypocrisy

A Welsh Labour candidate has been exposed as a racist hypocrite after calling on a Plaid Cymru opponent to resign over remarks he made 14 years ago.

Labour's candidate for Ceredigion and Cardiff councillor Huw Thomas called on Plaid candidate Mike Parker to resign over an article he wrote in 2001 comparing rural Wales to the American mountains "inhabited by a sprinkling of paranoid conspiracy theorists, gun-toting Final Solution crackpots and anti-government obsessives". Thomas said "There should be no place in our politics or our society for such divisive and hateful language".

However, it turns out that Huw Thomas was responsible for a torrent of racial abuse in 2006 against English people, calling for cars bearing English flags in Wales to be vandalised and describing people who have English flags as chavs, simpletons and casual racists.

Swale Conservative borough councillor defects to UKIP

A Conservative borough councillor in Sheppey has defected to UKIP.

Cllr June Garrad has become "disillusioned" with local politics under the Conservatives and had decided not to stand for re-election. She then spoke to her local UKIP branch and realised that "things didn't have to continue in the way they were".

Local councillors putting their residents before party, without a party line controlling the way we vote, and seeking to win discussions through good arguments rather than simply forcing votes through by use of a party whip.

It is an exciting and democratic approach to local politics that is totally missing at the moment, and has encouraged me to stand again under the Ukip banner.

Cllr Garrad is standing for re-election as a UKIP candidate next month.

Internet trolls attack UKIP candidate Colin Mair

The UKIP parliamentary candidate for Louth & Horncastle, Colin Mair, has been targeted by fraudsters who have set up a fake Twitter account and website to post offensive material in his name.

Party officials have managed to get the Twitter account suspended but taking down the website is taking longer.

There is evidence that this is the work of convicted internet troll and former Conservative Party activist, Joshua Bonehill-Paine who was recently spared jail after being convicted of malicious communications and harassment.

Chairman of Waveney District Council joins UKIP

The Chairman of Waveney District Council has joined UKIP.

Cllr Peter Collecott made the announcement yesterday and is standing for re-election as a UKIP candidate in May.

Cllr Collecott is a popular councillor in his ward of Ouleton and well respected on the district council. He was voted Chairman of the council for the third time in 2013 which is unusual for an independent. He has been a councillor since 1975.

Don't make our heroes beg for more

I spent most of today following Jill Seymour and Nigel Farage around the West Midlands to campaign against HS2, support UKIP in Cannock and then watch the unveiling of UKIP's defence policy at Himley Hall near Dudley.

We started the day in Marston in Staffordshire, a village that will literally be ripped apart by HS2. I saw first hand the impact that HS2 is going to have on our green and pleasant land. The farm that we met at is going to be cut in half by the railway line. The farm buildings are going to be knocked down and the farm house will be no more than 100 yards from the track. The lovely big house over the road is going to be demolished.

I can't remember which candidate this car belongs to but it's certainly a statement!

The turnout in Cannock was fantastic. Loads of encouragement from local residents and when Nigel Farage arrived he was mobbed by supporters. He made a sharp exit when a couple of known Hate not Hope agitators were spotted and who can blame him after the physical attacks he's received at the hands of HnH thugs?

After Cannock it was on to Himley Hall for UKIP's defence policy announcement with Paul Nuttall, Bill Etheridge, Nigel Farage and Mike Hookem. Most of the guests were former armed services personnel and Mike Hookem received a standing ovation.

Sorry, Dave, Most Of Us Are Never Coming Back

Agent Cameron has been turned! After years of acting as our best recruiting sergeant, our intrepid hero has decided to stop driving Tories into the arms of UKIP. He has decided he is, after all, a true conservative, and he wants those of us in UKIP who were once Tory supporters (by no means a majority of Kippers) to return to the Tory fold.

It might be a bit more convincing if Cameron had apologised before an election came around for the continuous stream of insults and condescending attitudes we have had to put with down the years of his time as Tory leader: now it just adds further insult to injury - as well as being 'pretty strange people' and 'closet racists' etc he plainly thinks we are just stupid to believe so transparent a ploy.

The thing is, for most of us who were once Tory supporters it wasn't an overnight decision, or the result of one issue such as gay marriage. It was a slow realisation down the decades stretching to times way before Dave and the Cameroons took power that the Tories really weren't interested in the issues conservatively-minded people cared passionately about: the family, the nation etc. Protection of these institutions should be the bedrock of any truly conservative offering, but the Tories had not only nothing to say on them and more often than not actively undermined them.

We slowly realised that the Tory party was nothing but 'an Old Whore', as the Tory historian and diarist Alan Clark once described them: far from being truly conservative, it's primary driving force is it's sense of entitlement to office and the preservation of elite power, at all costs.  A Vicar Of Bray that more often than not just goes with the flow in return for a quiet life and a guaranteed place at life's top tables: economically socialist after WWII, Thatcherite in the 80s, now fashionably MetroLib - tomorrow it will be something else again.

The truth is we like our new home. Unlike the reactive, cynical culture of the Tories, for all it's faults UKIP is brave, principled and driven. For those of us not to the manor born, it feels much more like home than the Tory party ever did.

Thanks for the offer Dave, but we can not "come home". We are already there.

Labour councillor in Bournemouth refuses to help UKIP supporter

A formal complaint has been lodged with Bournemouth Borough Council after a Labour councillor refused to help a resident because they are a UKIP supporter.

Cllr Ben Grower responded to an email from a resident telling him that because he supports a "racist" party he wasn't to contact him again and would delete any future emails. Councillors are required to represent all constituents regardless of their political persuasion and refusing to do so is not only a breach of a council's code of conduct but a common law offence of misconduct in public office.

A public officer acting as such wilfully neglects to perform his duty and/or wilfully misconducts himself to such a degree as to amount to an abuse of the public's trust in the office holder without reasonable excuse or justification

Yorkshire Tory PPC defects to UKIP

A Conservative PPC and councillor in Yorkshire has defected to UKIP.

Cllr Mike Whitehead was the Conservative PPC for Hull West & Hessle until the weekend when he resigned his membership and joined the people's army. He is currently a councillor for Willerby & Kirkella ward on East Riding Council.

Cllr Whitehead describes a culture of bullying and intimidation in the local Conservative Party and a lack of interest by the national party in dealing with the problem.

Both Cllr Whitehead and his former Conservative colleague, Cllr Mick Burchill, who defected to UKIP last week will be standing for re-election as UKIP candidates in the local elections.

Left wing extremists paint swastikas on war veteran's UKIP posters

A veteran of the Allied assault on Monte Cassino during the second world war has been left angry and shaken after left wing extremists daubed a swastika and Hitler moustache on a UKIP poster on his property.

Frank Moody, who has been a parish councillor in Hampshire for 36 years, took part in the assault on the German defences at Monte Cassino when he was just 20 years old. The series of assaults against the Germans cost over 55,000 Allied lives.

Cllr Moody said:

I fought Hitler in the war against the Nazis, so it made me very angry to find swastikas outside my gate. This is supposed to be a democratic country. That’s what I fought for.

The police have been notified but they have proven to be largely impotent and/or disinterested with the other attacks on UKIP and its supporters by left wing extremists.

Conservative councillor in East Yorkshire defects to UKIP

A Conservative councillor from East Yorkshire has defected to UKIP.

Cllr Michael Burchill defected to UKIP yesterday saying that "The local Conservative Party have forgotten that councillors work for the Residents and Constituents not for the council".

Labour zero hour hypocrisy

While Ed Miliband is bashing big business for using zero hour contracts, 36 of his MPs and a number Labour-run councils up and down the country are employing people on them.

The 36 Labour MPs who use the zero hour contracts include Shadow Chancellor, Ed Balls and a total of 68 Labour MPs have used them in the last 2 years.

A number of Labour-run councils also employ staff on zero hour contracts including Derby, Gateshead and Bury councils who between them employed over 6k people on zero hour contracts at the end of 2013.
