Eastern Tories Boycott Party Conference to hear UKIP Deputy Leader in Norwich

'EASTERN TORIES TURN TO UKIP FOR INSPIRATION ON EUROPE'

While the Conservative Conference was getting underway on 29th September, local Norwich Tories and keen golfers chose instead to listen to the UK Independence Party (UKIP) Deputy Leader and Prospective Eastern MEP Lead Candidate,David Campbell Bannerman at the exclusive Wensum Valley Golf Club, near Norwich,at a
dinner and speech followed by a question and answer session.

Mr Campbell Bannerman said: "The Conservative Party Conference has airbrushed out any mention of the European Union or the Lisbon Treaty. There was no debate and no mention of the EU at their Birmingham gathering. Furthermore, two
Conservative MEPs agreed to speak at a fringe meeting with UKIP Leader,Nigel Farage MEP but had to pull out after threats by Conservative Central Office. This is censorship,a case of 'whatever you do, don't mention the EU' ?!"

"As a former Tory of twenty years standing,I share the concerns expressed to me by good Tory patriots. It is quite clear that on EU issues, the Conservatives won't defend Britain's interests and UKIP will be their only choice in the June 2009 European elections. In 2004, UKIP gained two seats in the Eastern Counties and we had 2.7 million votes nationally, more than the Liberal Democrats. In 2009 we are looking to represent all those who are fed up with being forced into an EU superstate, when the British people only agreed to better trading arrangements.UKIP will have a free trade agreement with the EU,but would drop the political superstate with all its costs, laws and interference in the way we run our country."

Good to see some Tories are willing to hear UKIP out even if they dont want to join us!.

For the record, Cameron did mention the EU elections. He pledged that they would fight the Euro Elections with a manifesto pledge to have a Referendum on the Reform Treaty. Any one watching would have seen the look of utter disgust on Willian Hague's face. Remember Hague has already said on live telly that the Tories will not revisit the issue, if already ratified.

What he of course did not repeat was his statement in Essex a few months ago when he said that if the treaty is ratified before the next GE, then he would not pledge the same referendum.

What UKIP must now do is to modify it's message, that not only we would offer the referendum now but at any time in the future.
