Former Conservative councillor in Skegness joins UKIP

An former Conservative councillor on East Lindsey District Council has joined UKIP.

Cllr John Byford resigned from the Tories last year because they had failed to deliver on their promises and let down so many people locally and nationally.

Cllr Byford represents the Seacroft ward on East Lindsey District Council and also sits on Skegness Town Council.

Conservative councillor banned for drink driving

A Conservative councillor in Lincolnshire has been convicted of drink driving.

East Lindsey District Councillor Lesley-Jayne Marfleet was seen driving erratically by the police who pulled her over and breathalysed her after seeing that she was visibly drunk. She was found to be two and a half times over the drink drive limit.

She has been banned from driving for 25 months.

Councillor announces defection to UKIP at Conservatives' Spring Conference

East Lindsey District Councillor, Victoria Ayling, has defected with style from the Tories to UKIP.

Cllr Ayling attended the Conservative Party's spring conference so she could personally tell David Cameron that she was defecting!

Cllr Ayling was close to winning the Great Grimsby seat in the last general election and currently holds the Corporate Affairs portfolio on the district council.

Lindsey is the site of the Total oil refinery that saw protests in 2009 over the decision by Total to award a contract for new equipment to an Italian company that imported 300 Italian workers to do the work rather than employing locals.
