Conservative candidate jailed for electoral fraud

A Conservative council candidate charged with making a false declaration on his nomination papers has been given a 6 month sentence for electoral fraud.

Michael Fadaka put himself forward as a Conservative candidate for Enfield Council in last year's local elections but he was barred from elected office until 2016 because of a previous conviction for a £30k benefit fraud secured by Enfield Council itself.

Fadaka admitted to making a false declaration in February this year and was sentenced to 6 months in prison at Wood Green Crown Court today.

Conservative election candidate pleads guilty to making false declaration

A Conservative council candidate for Enfield has pleaded guilty to making a false declaration on his nomination papers for last year's local elections.

Michael Fadaka failed to declare a 2011 conviction for benefit fraud which legally barred him from standing in an election until 2016. He will be sentenced on March 18th and could go to prison.

Conservative fraudster arrested for electoral offences

A Conservative council candidate in London has been arrested for suspected electoral offences.

Michael Fadaka has a conviction for a £30k benefit fraud which was brought against him by Enfield Council - the same council he is standing for election to. Fadaka failed to mention the 12 month suspended sentence he was given in 2011 for the offence which means he is unable to stand for election anywhere in England and Wales until 2016.

It is too late to remove Fadaka's name from the ballot paper.
