Sadiq Khan dismisses David Kurten AM's call to remove the EU flag from City Hall

UKIP London AM, David Kurten, has called on Sadiq Khan to respect and honour the decision to leave the EU and remove the EU ring of stars flag from City Hall.

The Mayor of London has so far rejected calls to remove the EU logo from City Hall and said that he will continue to fly it after we have left.
Our city will continue to look outwards and trade and engage with the entire world - including the European Union - and we will continue to fly the EU flag outside City Hall.
London's largest export market is the US, just like the UK as a whole. But Mayor Khan doesn't propose to fly the American flag from City Hall.
I believe it also sends an important message to the almost one million Europeans living in London, who make a huge contribution to our city.
Kurten is calling for the EU logo to be replaced with the Cross of St George. English people are still the largest ethnic group in London although, of course, no longer the majority. How about flying the English flag to send an important message to the 4m English people living in London who make a huge contribution to the city?

Havering UKIP councillor proposes "independence" for his borough

UKIP Havering councillor, Lawrence Webb, has put forward a motion to turn the borough into a unitary authority and take back local decision making from the Mayor of London.

Residents in the London borough are unhappy with subsidising the mayor's spending plans for the rest of the city and want to take back control of planning, emergency services and other local services in what locals have nicknamed Hexit.

Cllr Lawrence's motion goes before Havering Borough Council on Wednesday.

Five arrested on terrorism charges in London and Kent

Police arrested a man on terrorism charges yesterday in Whitehall, a couple of hundred yards from the House of Commons.

The man was known to the police and was stopped and searched as part of an ongoing operation. He was found to have a rucksack full of knives. He was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

Meanwhile, a woman has been shot by police during an anti-terrorism raid elsewhere in London. Three people - a man, a woman and a 16 year old male - were arrested on suspicion of preparing to to carry out a terrorist act and another woman was arrested in Kent as part of the same operation. Police say these raids were unrelated to the arrest in Whitehall.

The police have yet to confirm that the suspects are all mentally ill.

Two die in Westminster terrorist attack

A terrorist attack has taken place outside the Houses of Parliament this afternoon with at least two person killed and an unknown number injured.

A car drove through pedestrians - including a group of French school children - on Westminster Bridge before crashing into railings outside Westminster Palace. The driver then entered Westminster Palace on foot and stabbed a police officer who has subsequently died before being shot several times.

The police are treating it as a terrorist attack but have refused to be drawn on who they believe is to blame. However, a picture of the suspected attacker is being shared on social media and the method of the attack is a common theme across Europe.

McKinsey & Co take new offices in London in "renewed commitment" to the UK

The world's post prestigious management consultancy firm, McKinsey & Co, have reiterated their commitment to post-Brexit UK by taking 100,000ft² of office space in a new development in London.

US-based McKinsey has 11,000 employees spread across 110 locations worldwide. McKinsey's UK & Ireland Managing Partner, Vivien Hunt, said the new office "represents a renewed commitment to London and the UK".

More than six months on from the referendum and we're still waiting for the 3m job losses, global economic apocalypse and mass exodus of big employers the Remainiacs predicted. Instead we've seen unemployment go down, the UK was the fastest growing advanced economy in the world last year and big names are investing significant amounts of money in their UK operations.

Snapchat announces its global headquarters are moving to London

The decimation of the UK's economy following the Brexit vote continues unabated with the announcement that Snapchat is moving its international headquarters to the UK.

The American social media giant is building new offices in London and has already started recruiting extra staff ahead of a stock market flotation. The UK subsidiary will manage Snapchat's non-US business around the world and will pay tax in the UK on the non-US portion of its estimated $1bn of advertising revenue.

Snapchat's decision to locate its global headquarters in the UK follows similar decisions by Google, Apple and Japanese technology giant, Softbank's high tech investment fund.

Softbank headquarters $100bn investment fund in London

Japanese conglomerate, Softbank Group, has announced that it is headquartering its new $100bn technology investment fund in London.

Softbank is the 165th largest public company in the world and has its fingers in many pies including internet, telecoms, microchips, media and finance. The decision to move the high tech fund to London is another vote of confidence in post-Brexit UK.

McDonalds moving non-US business to UK

McDonalds is moving its tax domicile from Luxembourg to London under a new holding company that will manage its non-US licensing deals.

This week the EU Commission launched a formal investigation into a tax deal between the Luxembourg government and McDonalds which allows the company to pay an effective corporation tax rate of 0%. The Commission has already decided they're guilty, they're just looking for the "evidence" to justify the fines that they'll want to impose.

When the EU Commission is in open economic warfare with the US it's hardly surprising that the American companies the EU is targeting want to escape their jurisdiction.

Police say no evidence of terrorist link in Russell Square attack but deploy counter-terrorism squad in response

The Metropolitan Police are downplaying any suggested link between last night's knife attack in London and terrorism, saying that it was probably "triggered by mental illness".

This is what police said in France and Germany after terrorist attacks there last month. Mental illness seems to be the new official excuse for terrorism to deflect attention away from the fact that the terrorist is a Muslim.

The man responsible for last night's attack has been identified as a Somalian who has been living in the UK for 14 years on a Norwegian passport.

If there is no evidence of a link to terrorism why are these counter-terrorism officers on the streets in response to the attack?

Suspected terrorist knife attack in London

A man has stabbed 6 people in Russell Square in London leaving one of them dead.

The identity of the attacker hasn't been released but counter-terrorism officers are involved and the police have already mentioned mental health issues which follows the same pattern as French and German police after recent terrorist attacks there. We will no doubt soon learn that the attacker shouted Allahu Akbar while he was doing it and is probably a "refugee".

No amount of tooled up anti-terrorist police on the streets are going to prevent terrorist attacks. The authorities have allowed terrorists and extremists into the country, failed to deport those who preach hatred and intolerance and allowed a parallel Islamic state to establish itself within these shores. Policies of appeasement, multiculturalism and mass immigration have created this situation and a hard line is needed to end it. Anyone who puts their religion before their country - whatever that religion - doesn't belong here.

London Conservative Councillor suspended for racist comments about Sadiq Khan

A Conservative councillor in London has been suspended by his party after reportedly telling a voter that Sadiq Khan "will treat you like dirt".

During canvassing in Putney, Cllr David Dean got into a conversation with a former Conservative official who told him that he was probably not going to vote Conservative for the first time in his life. Cllr Dean then told him "as a white man ... you will be treated like a pariah in your own town. He will treat you like dirt".

Cllr Dean denies he is racist because his wife is from Cyprus.

Green Party activist trying to ban UKIP from London Pride

A petition has been started by feminist pan-sexual model, student union officer and Green Party activist, Sarah Gillborn, to ban the UKIP LGBT* group from taking part in the Pride march in London this weekend.

Psychology student Gillborn is a Green Party activist who regularly attacks UKIP on social media. Her anti-democratic, politically motivated petition - which claims that lots of gay people will feel unsafe marching with gay people from UKIP in case they've been turned into an army of gay hating gays from being in an "inherently homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, racist and misogynistic political party" - has been publicised by the Green Party (obviously) and Pink News and has got over 500 signatures.

If bigoted political activists are allowed to prevent members of the UK's third largest political party from taking their rightful place in the London Pride then it shouldn't be allowed to go ahead. Either every LGBT* group should be welcome or none at all.

Green Party Peer arrested over illegal protest in London

Green Party peer and London Assembly member, Jenny Jones, has been arrested for obstructing police trying to break up an illegal camp in Parliament Square.

The police were enforcing the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act which bans people from setting up camp in Parliament Square. Protesters had come armed with gear to set up an overnight camp which is illegal. Jenny Jones says she had joined the protesters to investigate claims of disproportionate police response to the illegal protest. She was dearrested after giving her details for a summons and could now be prosecuted.

Former leader of the Green Party and their only MP, Caroline Lucas, was arrested last year for public order offences at an anti-fracking protest and Nigel Farage was assaulted in Brighton at an anti-democracy protest organised by left wing extremists, including Green Party councillor Ian Driver. It seems that the Green Party think that laws are only there for other people,

Former Conservative Deputy Mayor of London defects to UKIP

Boris Johnson's former right hand man, Richard Barnes, is the latest Conservative defector to UKIP.

The former Deputy Mayor of London said that the Tories, Labour and the Lib Dems don't speak the language of normal people and that only UKIP has the right answers on immigration, HS2, Heathrow expansion and the EU.
There seems to be a detachment from ordinary people’s lives in the Westminster Village.

The parties just don’t seem to relate and talk the language of normal people.

Tories campaigning for the disabled vote

Conservative MP, Andrew Rosindale, is in a bit of hot water after his 4x4 was pictured parking up in a disabled parking bay in London.

The Conservative Party said "the driver was unaware of any inconvenience caused directly by this, however we apologise if this was not the case". So they know the driver was unaware of any inconvenience caused by apologise if he wasn't aware? Sounds like they need to get their story straight.

Newham Conservatives deliver "sectarian" leaflet

London Borough of Newham Conservatives have delivered a "sectarian" leaflet targeting the Muslim vote.

The leaflet features a mosque watermark and is translated into Urdu, Gujarati and Bengali. It gives 10 reasons why Muslims in Newham should vote Conservative, including free parking during Friday prayers and taking religious beliefs and needs into account when making planning decisions.

Only 16.7% of Newham residents are white British and residents are seeing this less "appealing tot he Muslim community" as the local Tory agent puts it and more a divisive and sectarian bribe.

Conservative fraudster arrested for electoral offences

A Conservative council candidate in London has been arrested for suspected electoral offences.

Michael Fadaka has a conviction for a £30k benefit fraud which was brought against him by Enfield Council - the same council he is standing for election to. Fadaka failed to mention the 12 month suspended sentence he was given in 2011 for the offence which means he is unable to stand for election anywhere in England and Wales until 2016.

It is too late to remove Fadaka's name from the ballot paper.

Swale borough councillors refuse to resign despite moving 150 miles away from their ward

Husband and wife councillors, Jean and Alan Willicombe, have attracted criticism from residents and some of their fellow councillors for refusing the give up their seats on Swale Borough Council after moving 150 miles away from Sittingbourne where they were elected to Lincolnshire.

The Willicombe's claim that they can still represent the interests of the people in Woodstock ward despite having no daily exposure to the problems and needs of the people they were elected to represent and that it would be unfair to make the taxpayer pay for a by-election when the seat is disappearing in 2015 due to boundary changes.

This sort of thing is quite rare but sadly not an isolated occurrence or even the most extreme example. In 2003 a councillor refused to resign after she moved to Bermuda just 3 weeks after being elected to Maidstone Borough Council. In 2010 a Telford & Wrekin borough councillor refused to resign after moving to Spain. A UKIP councillor in London tells us that at least three councillors in Merton have moved out of London but still sit on Merton Council.

This sort of behaviour, whilst legal, is morally wrong and the legislation covering the eligibility of councillors needs to be changed so that the criteria must be met continuously to remain a councillor. All too often the LibLabCon political parties will field candidates that don't want to be councillors and don't intend to stick around for a full term just to keep up the numbers. It deprives residents of effective representation and is just inexcusable.
