Left wingers appear to be unhappy that their man is on the receiving end of the same type of politically-motivated smear campaign that UKIP has been subjected to for the last few years by the very same papers that Labour and the Conservatives have been briefing against UKIP.

Are you listening Prime Minister?
There are only 35 days left until 30m of the poorest people in the EU are able to live and work in the UK in unlimited numbers.
So far, over 20k people have signed a petition calling on the British government to indefinitely suspend the abolition of border controls for Romania and Bulgaria due to come into force on 1st January.
The problem with Cast Iron Dave's master plan is that it's not achievable. EU immigrants claiming to be self employed are allowed to claim benefits from the day they arrive, Big Issue sellers are self employed and EU law says that EU immigrants are entitled to the same benefits as the natives of the country they move to. The EU Commission is currently taking the British government to one of its kangaroo courts to enforce this law so claiming to be able to limit the benefits that EU immigrants are entitled to is simply dishonest.

David Cameron has clearly realised too late how much public opinion is against him on immigration because he's announced changes to the benefits system for EU immigrants which he says will send a clear message that we're not a soft touch. The changes he's announced are making EU immigrants wait 3 months before they are entitled to benefits, limit unemployment benefits to 6 months unless the claimant has a genuine chance of a job, making them wait for housing benefit and deporting EU immigrants who are caught begging or sleeping rough. In 2014, border restrictions on people coming from Bulgaria and Romania will be relaxed. This will mean nationals from these countries will be equally entitled to jobs, housing and welfare benefits. It will put pressure on our housing, infrastructure, schools, and healthcare at a time when the government is cutting pensions, jobs, public services and the armed forces.
I request that the government suspends indefinitely the relaxing of the UK's border restrictions due to take place on 1 January 2014.

Farage tells Cowardly Cameron not to book himself any studio time
Responding to Cowardly Cameron's pronouncement that the leader of the UK's third (and fastest growing) party shouldn't be allowed to take part in any televised leaders' debates before the next election but the leader of the fourth party should, Nigel Farage had this to say:
If he wants to restrict it to those parties who are likely to form the next government, he’d better not be booking studio time himself.Quite. Meanwhile, someone has started a petition on the HM Government e-petitions site for UKIP to be included in any televised debate and it's trending already.

Government response to EU referendum petition
The e-petition 'Referendum on the European Union' signed by you recently reached 18,188 signatures and a response has been made to it.
As this e-petition has received more than 10 000 signatures, the relevant Government department have provided the following response: The Government believes that membership of the EU is in the national interest of the UK. It is central to how we create jobs, expand trade and protect our interests around the world. The Government’s priority is dealing with the crisis in the Eurozone and making sure that the Single Market, which is one of the greatest forces for prosperity the continent has ever known and of immense benefit to this country, is not damaged. The crisis in the Eurozone has intensified the debate in every country on the future of Europe and there is no exception here. Europe is changing, and we do not know what the EU will end up looking like at the end of this crisis. As the Prime Minister has said, this Government believes that a choice between the status quo within the EU or leaving completely is the wrong question. But now that the European Union Act 2011 is in place the British people will have the final say, through a referendum, if any future treaty change results in a transfer of competence from the UK to the EU. This cannot happen without the express consent of the British people. The activities of the EU have expanded over time, before the coalition Government established a referendum lock, and it is important to take stock of the impact of the EU on our country. In line with a commitment made to the British people in the Coalition Programme for Government, the Government recently launched a review of the balance of competences between the UK and the EU to assess the EU’s impact on the UK. Now is the right time to take a critical and constructive look at exactly which competences lie with the EU, which lie with the UK, and whether it works in our national interest. The parties in the Coalition will have the opportunity to address issues such as referenda in their own manifestos at the next election. You may also wish to read the Prime Minister’s Statement of 2nd July 2012 on the European Council at http://www.number10.gov.uk/news/prime-ministers-statement-on-the-european-council/ This e-petition remains open to signatures and will be considered for debate by the Backbench Business Committee should it pass the 100 000 signature threshold.

Another petition
UKIP has launched a petition calling for a referendum on our continued membership of the European Empire.
Ignoring the fact that the petition says Great Britain when it should say United Kingdom (another of my pet hates!) it's one worth signing. This petition is going to be a big one, a lot of resources are being put into it.

Petition the PM: Resign!
A petition worth signing: We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to resign.
Hat-tip: Daily Referendum
There are many reasons why we might want Brown to resign, but rather than having lots of narrow petitions on this topic (most of which have been rejected), I wanted one for all of us.Click on the boot to sign the petition ...
