The first so-called refugees have been relocated to the UK under a scheme to reunite unaccompanied children living in the "jungle" camp in Calais with their relatives living here. But if you were hoping to see the young primary school kids with tears rolling down their grubby cheeks that the media broadcast at us every day you'll be disappointed.
Facial recognition software has put the ages of most of the "children" anywhere from mid-20s to late 30s. One so-called refugee claimed to be under 18 but is believed to be 38. A fostering charity - TACT - claimed he was an interpreter and said anyone using him to criticise so-called refugees is racist but they later backed down when they discovered he was actually a grown man pretending to be a child.
The Home Office is refusing to carry out dental checks on people who are clearly grown adults claiming to be children because it's "intrusive". Disabled people already living here can be subjected to intrusive medical checks and degrading interviews to prove their continued entitlement to disability benefits but young men in their 20s and 30s who've travelled more than 2,000 miles across the Middle East and Europe might find having an x-ray traumatic so Home Office officials have to take them at their word.
Home Office officials are also not checking whether the family these so-called refugees claim they have in the UK actually exist or whether they're willing to look after these young men. Many of those young enough to get away with calling themselves children are likely to end up being put up by local authorities when they turn out to be homeless.

French Interior Minister tries to shirk his responsibilities over child immigrants in Calais
The French Minister for the Interior has said that the UK has a "moral duty" to take in unaccompanied child illegal immigrants who have made their way to Calais and have family in the UK.
The French government has been failing to take proper care of the children living in the illegal "Jungle" camp at Calais for years and is quite persistent in trying to shift responsibility to the UK. Bernard Cazeneuve's suggestion that the UK is responsible for the welfare of children in France related to other illegal immigrants that his government have failed to stop illegally entering the UK is ridiculous.
Whilst it would be sensible for unaccompanied children to live with relatives rather than in an institution or with strangers, it would only encourage other children to make the dangerous journey across Europe if they thought that it would be easy to get in to the UK if they can just get to Calais. Once they have successfully claimed asylum and are legally living in a safe country they should be reunited with their family in the UK if there is no better option and it is in the best interests of the child to do so.
An automatic right of entry sends out the wrong message and would put more children in danger. The French government needs to stop shirking its responsibilities, remove the unaccompanied children from Calais and demolish any illegal camps erected at the ports which cause these safeguarding issues in the first place.

President Hollande confirms commitment to Le Touquet agreement
Teresa May has met French president Francois Hollande and reaffirmed both sides' commitment to keeping the Le Touquet agreement which moves border controls to the other side of the channel.
Under the terms of the treaty, French officials control the French border in England whilst UK officials control the UK border in France. The juxtaposed border controls allow immigration officials to prevent undesirables crossing their border and then abusing the legal system to prevent deportation.
France has been on lockdown since last week's terrorist attack in Nice and it is currently taking around 90 minutes to clear French border security in Dover. Without the Le Touquet agreement the checks would be carried out on French soil which is a bit like shutting the stable door once the horse has bolted.
The Remain campaign told us that the agreement would be ripped up as soon as we voted to leave the EU but it was obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense that the Le Touquet agreement is of huge benefit to both the UK and France. The French Minister of the Interior confirmed more than once during the referendum campaign that the Le Touquet agreement would not be cancelled and now President Hollande has confirmed that the agreement is here to stay.

French Minister confirms (again) that Calais border controls will remain in UK hands
The French Minister of the Interior, Bernard Cazeneuve, has confirmed once again that the French government has no intention of reversing the Le Touquet agreement that allows the French to control their border in England and the UK to control our border in Calais.
Before the referendum the Minister said that scrapping juxtaposed border controls was "a foolhardy path, and one the government will not pursue". Monsieur Cazeneuve has reiterated that commitment this week, saying:

There is no reason to call it (the agreement) into question after the vote last Thursday. Doing this would send a very bad signal. The reality is that the Touquet agreement, which allows the intervention of British forces in Calais, just as it allows French forces in Dover, is not being called into question following the exit of the UK from the European Union.

Calais in lockdown over rioting illegal immigrants
The port of Calais has been locked down for two days due to out of control illegal immigrants rioting, attacking cars and attempting to board lorries heading for the UK.
The BBC has reported the lockdown as being caused by a power cut but pictures shared on social media by people in Calais show the real reason. French police have been forced to use tear gas on hundreds of illegal immigrants targeting cars with UK number plates and chanting "Fuck the UK". They have also been jumping into the sea next to ferries and jumping into the Eurotunnel trains causing long delays on ferries and trains.

Calais police advise lorry drivers to run over illegal immigrants
Calais police have advised lorry drivers to run down illegal immigrants if they jump out in front of them.
A common tactic the illegal immigrants in Calais use is to jump out in front of lorries, forcing them to stop so that others can break into the lorries and try to get to the UK illegally.
Lorry drivers must pay a fine of £3,000 per illegal immigrant found in their trailers.

UK "anarchists" trying to incite riots in Calais
So-called "anarchists" from the UK are causing havoc in Calais trying to incite riots.
While the French police were clearing an unauthorised section of the illegal immigrant camp known as "the jungle" in Calais, UKIP MEP Mike Hookem and his team witnessed activists from the UK torching shacks and telling the illegal immigrants that it was the French police. One was heard telling fellow activists "next time we have to make sure everyone's out before we start it" as she was taken away by police.
The Prefect of Calais has commented that police officers politely telling illegal immigrants why they need to move were abused by British activists.
Not content with trying to incite riots in the illegal immigrant camp, these self-styled anarchists are also attacking lorry drivers. One driver has told the Express that a group of people with middle class English accents threw stones at his lorry, smashing the windscreen and one even lanced his cab with a sharpened metal pole narrowly missing him.
French authorities are moving illegal immigrants out of the camp at Calais in the hope that they will go to one of the official asylum reception centres dotted around the country where they will have running water, electricity, security and medical care. The illegal immigrants are reluctant to do so because that would require registration and making their asylum claim in France rather than the UK where they want to be.
The situation in Calais is clearly out of control and the police are unable to effectively manage the situation. It's time for the army to take control, root out the British agitators, demolish the camp and secure the border. Every one of the so-called anarchists helping people illegally enter the UK, causing criminal damage and recklessly endangering lives are accessories to a crime and should be deported back to the UK and hauled in front of a judge.
If the French government doesn't have the balls to hand policing of Calais over to the army then hauliers need to bite the bullet and switch to another port such as Antwerp or Rotterdam. It will cost them money but at least their drivers will be safe and with no regular supply of lorries to try and break into Calais will suddenly become less attractive to the illegal immigrants whilst the imminent collapse of the whole Calais prefecture's economy will give the French government the kick it needs to start acting responsibly.

France can't legally terminate the treaty that allows UK officers to patrol our border in Calais
Project Fear is busy telling people that if we leave the EU the French will cancel the agreement that allows UK border officials to enforce border controls in France.
The Sangatte Protocol was signed in 1991 and allowed for juxtaposed border controls in France and the UK. This was a bilateral treaty signed by the French and British governments, it has nothing to do with our membership of the EU.
The Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (which both France and the UK signed) says that a treaty can only be terminated in accordance with the terms of the treaty or by mutual consent. There is nothing in the Sangatte Protocol that allows either France or the UK to terminate the treaty unilaterally so under international treaty law both France and the UK must agree to its termination.
The EU remainers portray the agreement with France as a one-sided affair that means we can police our borders in France and only we get any benefit but that's not the case. Under this agreement, the French border is moved to Dover and Folkestone where French officials police not only their own borders but the gateway to the Schengen zone from the UK. It's far from one-sided and the benefits of the agreement are felt across the 26 Schengen countries (4 of which aren't even in the EU).
There is no doubt that we get a lot of benefit from being able to police our frontier in France but we shouldn't downplay the benefit to France and the other 25 Schengen countries. If France were to illegally terminate the bilateral treaty that allows this arrangement as a punitive measure for leaving the EU then what would actually change? France would still have an obligation to provide border security and passport and visa controls on the French side of the border, regardless of whether the frontier was in France or England. The border would still be enforced but illegal immigrants who made it through French border controls would end up being caught and processed on UK soil rather than French. It would make the UK responsible for their deportation but outside of the EU we would have our own immigration laws under which to deport them without the EU courts thwarting every attempt at removing illegal immigrants as we are entitled to do under international law with those not claiming asylum in the first safe country they arrive in. While we're hobbled by the EU courts and EU laws the juxtaposition of borders has a lot of value but without that straightjacket its value is significantly diminished.

Cameron claims illegal immigrants in England will set up camps in England to get into England when we leave the EU
David Cameron has bizarrely claimed that when we leave the EU we will see Calais "jungle" style illegal immigrant camps all over south east England.
The "Jungle" camp in Calais is home to tens of thousands of illegal immigrants waiting for the opportunity to illegally travel to England. It is rife with violent and sexual crime directed at their fellow illegal immigrants and to lorry drivers who try to stop them stowing away in their trailers. Various left wing political organisations, trade unions and groups of so-called "anarchist" agitators are in Calais helping the illegal immigrants break into the Channel Tunnel and storm ferries and lorries in a dangerous game of one-upmanship.
The biggest flaw in Cameron's claim is that if the illegal immigrants so desperate to get to England that they'll live in filth for years spending day after day trying to get here illegally are already in England then they won't be setting up bases this side of the border to smuggle themselves through the border they've already crossed. Unless the Tories have got a plan to declare independence as the Conservative Republic of Kent and put up border fences to keep the Brighton communists at bay ... that would explain it and it's probably one of their contingency plans.
Outside of the EU we will be able to control our borders, allowing only the quantity and quality of people that the country needs to settle here. The bilateral treaty that the UK has with France that allows UK authorities to police the border on the French side has nothing to do with the EU and leaving the EU would have no effect on it.

Charity to stop providing aid to illegal immigrants in Calais
The Human Relief Foundation charity is expected to stop providing aid to the illegal immigrant camp in Calais after its chief executive paid a visit and found that 95-97% of the illegal immigrants there were male economic migrants.
HRF has been providing food and clothes for families to the camp in Calais but chief executive Kassim Tokan found that the unneeded clothing for women and children was discarded or burnt and unwanted food was dumped. He said that the illegal immigrants are mainly interested in getting hold of cash and mobile phones and that HRF would now probably refocus on helping to build shower blocks and toilets rather than providing aid.
