UKIP North West Launch Manifesto

Success for the UK Independence Party in next month’s Euro election could bring down Gordon Brown’s government. That was the stark message from UKIP at the North West launch of their election manifesto on Monday.

“We are confident of getting at two MEPs elected in the North West and nationally we believe that our success at the polling booths could mean we will beat Labour into second place,” said party chairman, Paul Nuttall.

“That would demonstrate what we already know - that the majority of people in this country have had enough of being ruled by Brussels and it would spell the end for Gordon Brown.” He also expressed his annoyance about the ‘thank EU signs’ that spring up at regeneration projects all over the North West.

“There is no such thing as EU money. It’s just some of our own money being given back to us. Our membership of the EU costs us £40 million a day – that’s £2,000 a year for every taxpayer in the land.

Outlining the party’s policies contained in the manifesto, Mr Nuttall, who is the party’s chairman, said one of the main planks would be the end of unlimited immigration. “We would impose a five year moratorium on immigration while we establish just how many immigrants are here and we would introduce a work permit system for people with skills our country needs,” he said.

“The European Union makes 75% of our laws, and withdrawing from it means we can get away from all their rules, red tape and regulation. "This is not a General Election when voters elect a government, this is a European election where people can register a protest against the EU,

"So we are asking Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat supporters to ‘lend us your vote’ for this election," said Mr Nuttall. Mr Nuttall, who was flanked by other UKIP Euro-candidates at the launch in Liverpool city centre, pointed to the adjacent Trafalgar monument and the famous flag signal ‘England expects every man to do his duty’.

“And we in UKIP expect every man – and woman – to do their duty for this country and vote UKIP on June 4,” said Mr Nuttall.

ONE MINUTE LISBON BLOCKBUSTER ROCKS STRASBOURG

Late on the night of the 6th May, 2009, to boos and hisses from those present, former Chairman and Deputy Leader of UKIP Mike Nattrass MEP crashed into the Lisbon Treaty debate in Strasbourg with a one minute rebel rousing speech which put UKIP into full election mode, finishing with a Churchillian 'V' salute at the EU Parliament President saying "NEVER BEFORE IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN POLITICS HAVE SO MANY BEEN CONNED BY SO FEW."

The full blockbusting one minute went as follows:

"SINCE THE 1970s, BRITISH POLITICIANS HAVE SWORN THE EU ISN'T ABOUT POLITICAL DOMINATION OR LOSS OF SOVEREIGNTY.

YET EU PRESIDENTS STATE WE POOLED OUR SOVEREIGNTY AND HAVE A EUROPEAN EMPIRE WHICH MAKES 75% OF OUR LAW.

THIS TREATY, SIGNS AWAY OUR ABILITY TO RULE OURSELVES, YET A BBC POLL SAYS 84% OF UK VOTERS WANT NO MORE POWER SURRENDERED LIKE MUSHROOMS, THE BRITISH PEOPLE ARE LEFT IN THE DARK AND FED MANURE.

THE CONS', THROUGH THE EPP GROUP, GAVE THEIR ALLOWANCES TO THE "YES" CAMPAIGN IN IRELAND! THEN DEVIOUSLY PROMISED TO ALLOW A REFERENDUM, BUT ONLY IF IRELAND VOTES "NO" AGAIN! MR. PRESIDENT.

BEHIND THE BACKS OF THE BRITISH PEOPLE AND WITH NO MANDATE THE WESTMINSTER PARTIES HAVE SOLD THEIR COUNTRY AWAY, WHILE THE POLLS SHOW 55% WANT TO LEAVE THE EU.

NEVER BEFORE IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN POLITICS HAVE SO MANY BEEN CONNED BY SO FEW. "

Eastern Region Election Campaigns Moves up a Gear

Campaigning for the county council and European elections on June 4 steps up a gear for UKIP in the Eastern region with the launch of their manifesto on Monday.

On Monday, the UK Independence Party will be at the Assembly House in Norfolk for the launch of its region campaign. UKIP, which has one Eastern region Euro MP is hoping to build on its success in 2004 with an as-yet undisclosed celebrity-backed publicity campaign.

Outgoing MEP and former party leader Jeffrey Titford will be introducing his potential successors including lead candidate David Campbell Bannerman, who is also deputy leader, alongside Norfolk poultry and arable farmer Stuart Agnew and city finance director Andrew Smith, who are the second and third candidates.

UKIP will also be launching a region-wide poster campaign featuring a "well-known" national icon, who will be highlighting the cost of EU membership and urging the public to back the party.

Mr Campbell Bannerman said UKIP was the only party offering voters a genuine choice.

"This is going to be an eye-catching and hard-hitting campaign," he said. "All three of the old parties are wedded to continued European Union membership, despite its immense cost to our economy, the appalling damage it is doing to our country's ability to govern itself, to control its own borders and immigration, as well as the grave loss of democracy."

Green Party condemned as 'extremists' for claiming that flying abroad is like "knifing someone in the street"

The lead candidate in the European Election for the UK Independence Party in the Eastern Counties, David Campbell Bannerman, has exposed the Green Party’s extremist views live on an ITV programme to be shown in the East of England. The Green Party is targeting the Eastern region for an MEP seat.

Challenging Ms Lucas about her views on climate change on the TV programme ‘Leaders of Europe’, Mr Campbell Bannerman asked her whether she thought flying to Spain, for example, was as bad as stabbing someone in the street, and Ms Lucas confirmed “Yes!… because climate change kills”.

Campbell Bannerman comments: - “I was shocked at her response. This is the Leader of a supposedly respectable political party, now showing fascist tendencies. There can be no excuse for adopting such extremist language to describe ordinary people flying abroad for a well earned holiday. The Green Party has shown its true anti-libertarian, heavily interventionist colours. It is translating its misplaced fervour over unproven man-made global warming into direct attacks on personal freedom."

"She also used expressions like 'binge flying' which are absurd. Air travel is generally a necessary part of a journey not a wicked extravagance, as the Greens think. Half the British population fly at least once a year. Yes, they should pay the true costs of that travel, including the environmental costs, but they should not be barred or vilified for doing so.“

“The Green Party is becoming reminiscent of a mad cult which maligns anyone who doesn't follow their faith. They are like 21st century Luddites trying to hold back progress, and they regard holidaymakers as environmental criminals. UKIP shows common sense on the environment, the Greens are just plane crazy!"

Our Campaign, our Cause and our Time!

This is a critical year for the UK Independence Party and we need Young Independence and the rest of the party to be at the top of its game if we are going to succeed. The ‘old’ parties are talking the same language and we have a fantastic opportunity to ‘strike a chord‘ with the British public and break the political mould once again. In 2004 we had 12 MEPs elected and beat the Lib Dems into fourth place. We did it in 2004 and we can do it in 2009!

Please don’t be fooled into thinking it is going to be easy, because it is not. We will need armies of leafleters out there, on doorsteps and spreading the word: we will require letter writers, public speakers and bags of enthusiasm, which I know many of you have in abundance. We now need to transfer your enthusiasm for the cause on to others and I believe this will happen in the coming months.

At the moment Europe is not a topic, which interests many people, but in the run-up to the European Election this will all change. Europe and the nature of the European Union will be out there; it will be a ‘hot topic’ that will be discussed on the University campuses and in the workplace and Young Independence will have to play a vital role if we are capitalise on this growing interest. So, if you are at University, spread our message across your campus; or if you are at work, tell your colleagues about what UKIP has to offer. I think you will find that the vast majority of people agree with what we say; we just have to say it!

You will also be helped by the fact that the UK Independence Party’s media profile will increase as we near the European Election. Nigel Farage and other MEP candidates will regularly be on television and in the newspapers. The media will want to know both what we stand for and how we intend to implement our policies. UKIP will be very much in the ‘public eye’ and hopefully on the ‘tip of everyone’s tongue’, just as it was in 2004.

I can also promise you that this year’s campaign will be the most professional that UKIP has ever run. There is a new Central Campaign Office in Westminster and there will be a real emphasis on ‘new media,’ which I have to admit, goes way over my
head! The team is in place, the candidates are selected and we are ‘up for it’ and ready to go.

We have a great opportunity this year my friends and we cannot allow it to ‘slip through our fingers.’ We have the right message, the right team and the right goal. What we now need is your enthusiasm and commitment because this is our campaign, this is our cause and this is our time. Get out there and let’s make 2009 the year when the political landscape changed forever. Get involved/join UKIP NOW

Prospective UKIP candidate wows Witney audience

The following event was organized by the UKIP Witney branch.

Philip Vander Elst, a UKIP prospective candidate for the South East in the 2009 European parliamentary elections, wowed the audience for his speech on “Why Britain should leave the European Union” last month in the Corn Exchange Witney. To a packed meeting, Vander Elst spoke with eloquence and passion about the damage Britain’s membership of the EU has done to our economy and democracy and he warned of further damage to come if the Lisbon Treaty is implemented. He explained that his objection to the EU was not taken from a “little England” perspective. His father had been a Belgian scientist and he himself, though educated in England, had spent much of his childhood in Belgium. But he thought European integration, through forming new ‘supranationalist’ institutions, which are increasingly concentrating power in a small elite of Euro-bureaucrats and politicians and making government increasingly remote from ordinary people, is bad for all of Europe, and not just Britain.

He explained that he had fought against European federalism ever since his early twenties, when he had written the official manifesto for Conservatives Against the Treaty of Rome and has been a passionate defender of Britain’s right to govern herself ever since.

His detailed and informative 45-minute speech struck a huge chord of sympathy with the audience (by no means all UKIP members) and sparked-off a barrage of questions which continued over refreshments and until long past the meeting was due to end.

Philip Vander Elst, is a freelance writer, lecturer, and broadcaster, with 30 years' experience in politics and journalism. He is currently Number 4 on the UKIP list of MEP prospective candidates for the South East in next June's European elections.

A sleeping giant who waits to stir

Todays Midhurst and Petworth newspaper describes us as the sleeping giant we are.

Depending on which part of West Sussex you drive through you will see banners and posters proudly supporting the UK Independence Party (UKIP).
But is UKIP a realistic voting option, or just a 21st-century version of Dad's Army, hoping to beat back a foreign invasion using pitchforks and rolled up copies of the Daily Telegraph?

I spent an hour with the UKIP leader Nigel Farage and a chap called Paul Nuttall, the party's newly-appointed chairman. As well as being the party's leader, Farage is also a member of the European parliament for south-east England.

UKIP admits under the current electoral system in the country ('first past the post') it has a long way to go to becoming a serious choice in a general election. However, locally and in Europe it hopes to gain further support for its aims.

Desperate to move on from its image as a 'one-issue' party, where its principal aim is the withdrawal of the UK from the European Union (EU), UKIP have fleshed out a domestic agenda that would be music to many ears. Policies include freezing immigration for five years, a grammar school in every town, locally-run clean hospitals with a return of the matron, more investment in our armed forces and fair prices and competition to end the plight of our suffering farmers.

Such pledges are admirable but expensive. Farage is quick to point out UK membership of the EU costs us a staggering £40m a day – once out of the EU this money would then be used to fund priorities closer to home.
Having a preconceived notion of UKIP I actually found them refreshingly different from other political parties. They seem to have a firm grip on what really matters to the people in this country.

While Brown and Cameron rip chunks out of each other and people struggle to identify Nick Clegg, here is a party highlighting issues that matter to a lot of us.

I am not a betting man but I'm willing to take a punt that as more folk become disenfranchised with the so-called mainstream political parties, UKIP will pick up serious support.

With the European elections less than nine months away the sleeping giant that is UKIP is starting to stir.

And it's a giant that I would rather have on my side than be up against.

Trevor Colman UKIP's new MEP

The resignation of Graham Booth earlier this month has taken immediate effect and his place as a South West region UKIP MEP has been filled by Trevor Colman of Bishopsteignton, Newton Abbot. His departure from the Euro-political scene has been marked with a presentation at the party HQ in Newton Abbot, and at the Torbay branch, which held a surprise buffet for Mr Booth and wife Pam.Branch vice-chairman Ian Walsh said: "He has represented the South West as a UKIP MEP for six years doing sterling work."He was presented with two astronomy books by the branch, as the subject has been a long time hobby of his.Mrs Booth was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Julie Harrison, the Bay UKIP hopeful.

Trevor Colman a superb replacement served for 33 years as a police officer, mainly in CID.He is to be the number one candidate for UKIP in the South West in the 2009 European elections due to be held next June.
He said: " I shall be representing all those people in the South West who are fed up with the EU and want Britain to govern itself once again. I shall make sure their views are heard loud and clear both in Brussles and in this region."
UKIP's other South West MEP, Roger Knapman, who stays in his post until next June said: " I am delighted Trevor is taking on this role. He will bring new ideas, new energy and new leadership. Another Successful Meeting In Aberdeen

UkipAberdeen members met again last evening, in what was another positive meeting with new and inovative ideas discussed which will help the branch progress and more importantly, ideas that will get UKIP policies out to the people that matter the most, the public.

Our prospective European Parliment candidates in Scotland will be pleased to know that we will be contacting local groups and organisations to arrange dates for them as guest speakers. This will also allow the public to ask questions relating to UKIP and the European union.

Hopefully when the public hear UKIP’s common sense, none PC policies they will like what they hear so much that they will join up as members.

In short it’s all hands on deck to help out and support the Glenrothes By-election which is on the 6th of November. UKIP is lucky to have Dr Kris Seunarine standing as candidate, the public could not ask for someone better to represent them in Parliament. That’s if they want honesty, openness, and a real willingness to serve the electorate.

After the Glenrothes by-election it will then be all hands on the deck for the European elections. If any group or organisation would like too have a UKIP candidate along as a guest speaker, please get in touch, we will get back to you.

UKIP Aberdeen is growing, and we will continue to grow, as more and more people become aware of what we stand for, and our policies. People have had enough of Britain being destroyed by unelected bureaucrats in Brussells.
