English Democrats' homophobic slur against Nikki Sinclaire MEP
I have no time for Nikki Sinclaire as a person or a politician because of the awful, selfish way she behaved during her final spat with UKIP but this sort of attack on someone because of their sexuality is disgusting. There's enough prejudice in society against homosexuals and transsexuals without a political party stirring up homophobic sentiment. It seems that the English Democrats aren't just racist but they're homophobic as well - and they're asking for 1.2m votes in the EU elections next year!
I have reported this picture twice to Facebook but they've refused to take it down (although their moral compass did lead them to suspend my Facebook account for 24 hours a month or so ago because someone objected to me saying that unemployed people should do community service for their benefits - something that weeks later is announced as government policy). I have sent the details to Nikki Sinclaire so that she can take whatever action she deems necessary.

Nikki Sinclaire: The Member for Hypocrisy
Here he is at their very poorly attended little 'conference' (far-right on the picture, and in politics)
Here he is speaking:

Nikki Sinclair to talk at English Democrats conference
As Nikki doesn't support devolution it's unlikely that she'd support the English Democrats anyway but I don't imagine that her appearance at their conference is anything other a leg of her tour of party conferences speaking at fringes. She was at the UKIP conference a couple of weeks ago and she said she was going to visit every party conference this year (I don't think she made it to either the Green or Lib Dem conference though).
It'll be interesting to see how Nikki is received by some of the more ... interesting characters in the English Democrats.

What now for Mike Nattrass?
Mike, on the other hand, has refrained from outright warfare with the party but is that reason enough to allow him to keep the whip? If rumours of an impending court case from Nikki are true - and I am frankly amazed that she hasn't already tried to sue the party - then this inconsistent treatment is bound to be one of her main arguments for whatever it is she thinks she's going to achieve.

Naughty Nikki
So imagine my surprise when I received a letter from the office of Nikki Sinclaire MEP, with a small picture of Nikki on the top standing next to a UKIP logo.
I'm still interested in what Nikki gets up to even though she's not a UKIP MEP any more but for someone planning to sue the party for allegedly not following correct disciplinary procedures, it seems strange that she would not only ignore the instructions given to her by the party but also break the law (Data Protection Act) by using UKIP membership details without permission and for a purpose other than that for which they were collected.
If she really does intend to get in a pissing contest with the party, I think breaking the law trumps not following internal disciplinary procedures correctly. People in glass houses and all that.

UKIP Telford & Wrekin Christmas Party
The party was, naturally, organised by the formidable Jill Seymour and among the guests were Mike Nattrass MEP, Nikki Sinclair MEP and a number of PPCs, including Telford & Wrekin PPCs Councillor Denis Allen and Malcolm Hurst and Solihull PPC John Ison.
Telford & Wrekin's veteran activist, Councillor Ray Knight, was presented with a medal for outstanding service to the party by Mike Nattrass and Nikki Sinclaire.

Nikki Sinclaire MEP Election address:
This is the CV that will appear on ballot papers and in INDEPENDENCE.I am honoured to be proposed and seconded by two of our recent "Gold Medal" recipients, both stalwarts of our party who have played an essential role in our success. I am also grateful to the hardworking grassroots members across the UK who assented to my nomination. These people reflect my candidature.
UKIP is now a force in British politics and credit must go to Nigel Farage. It is a loss to our party that he never led us into a General Election campaign. Many of you will know that I have made every effort to seek a change of heart from him with my petition but to no avail. I was not in favour of a leadership campaign so close to a General Election.
I have been urged by many across the country to put my name forward to debate the future direction of the party, essential in the light of recent developments and proposals.
History
I became involved with UKIP after the Tory treachery of Maastricht. Volunteering in the European elections of 1994 I subsequently became a member in 1996.
I have been a Branch Committee Member, Branch Secretary, Branch Chairman, Regional Committee Member, Regional Chairman, Head Office Manager, NEC Member and Party Secretary.
I have stood in local elections, two General Elections, one European Election and now find myself as an MEP!
I have also two years' political experience in the US campaigning for a member of Congress and also on the Californian "recall" procedure with its subsequent election of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This year, I put all my skills and experience into being the Campaign Manager for the West Midlands, winning a third of the seats and securing UKIP's highest vote increase.
Principles
I seek unequivocal withdrawal from the EU. Reform is not and can never be an option.
To promote freedom and liberty for the individual that would encourage each person to develop independence and responsibility.
I believe in equality of opportunity and treatment for all under the rule of law.
I loathe political correctness and positive discrimination.
These are not just words but the passion that drives me forward in my work representing UKIP and my country.
UKIP - the way forward
The time has come for a fresh approach and a debate on the future of our Party. UKIP is the only vehicle to take our country out of the corrupt and doomed mess that is the EU. We must not rest on our laurels but continue with all our muster against the Euro-federalists. We need to take a critical look at our party and not be afraid of the changes needed to take us forward. UKIP started as a grassroots party. This is a principle we should never forget. No member should be left behind in our fight. This party has far too many ex-members. We need a united front to defeat our enemies.
Finally we are in the centre ground of British politics, no longer thought of as an offshoot of the Tory party. The European Elections cemented this by UKIP winning outright in Labour heartlands such as Stoke-on-Trent, Dudley, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Plymouth, Hull, Hartlepool and Sunderland. We did not win one single Conservative heartland.
We must consolidate this and expand our message across the political spectrum. Polls show that our cause now has majority support. We need to claim that support, not restrict ourselves once again by being seen as a Tory splinter group.
Besides our message, our great asset is Nigel's ability to articulate our cause. As Leader I would retain Nigel as our lead spokesman. Nigel has already indicated he is willing to do this.
A major change needed within the party is communication, administration and policy making. The recent Court of Appeal decision which means that, due to a simple administrative error, we may have to pay over £360,000 into government coffers, underlines our need for improved professionalism in the party.
Our administrative office in Devon does a fantastic job. However, we need investment in the regions to supplement our branches. Our infrastructure has not grown with our electoral success and if we don't heed the need for change it will be the biggest obstacle to us achieving real success.
Our internal communication leaves a lot to be desired. Ideas such as a "letter database" whereby all letters by members published in newspapers/magazines across the country can be accessed by other members and used in their area - Simple, free and effective. WE NEED TO BE DOING THIS!
The Party Leader and officers need to be available to members by regular meetings in their region on a regular basis. Members deserve regular newsletters. I promise all this.
In short, I believe my organisational and administrative ability, coupled with Nigel evident abilities, can harness the improvements we need to take us forward.
Sticky Issues
Under my leadership UKIP will never be part of a pan-European party. Under Article 191 of Nice, these parties aim to assist further EU integration. I could not believe my ears when I heard the proposal that we should join one. I am proud that I was one of only two UKIP MEPs that spoke and campaigned against this recent proposal.
It is 10 years since we first sent MEPs to Brussels. The intent of UKIPs 1998 Conference (which allowed elected MEPs to take up their seats) was to make the MEPs work for the Party. There is a tendency for it to be the other way round. The Party needs to be able to be powerful in its own right, democratically controlled by you, the members. We MEPs are privileged to fight the cause on your behalf and are there, politically and financially, to further that cause.
Being an MEP
Being an MEP allows me use of substantial resources to represent you as Party Leader. For example, my 15,000 miles' travel allowance will permit me to travel across the country promoting the Party. I have members of staff to assist me. I have a professional fully-equipped office in Birmingham, financed by my allowances, and only five minutes away from the BBC and ITV studios. To qualify for these allowances, I need to spend, on average, three and a half days a month in Brussels/Strasbourg. The rest of my time will be here, in the UK, and I commit to spending my time touring the country, promoting UKIP, to give us the best chance of electoral success.
Since being elected an MEP, I have committed a third of my net salary to the Party. I have edited and paid for 100,000 newspapers to be distributed by West Midland branches. A further 500,000 are planned, with some going to the North East and Scotland where UKIP does not yet have MEPS. I am financially supporting and attending Freshers´ Fairs at universities to further our message. I have a full website, including a page on transparency, at www.yourmep.org which is regularly updated. Take a look to see what I did in my first 100 days as an MEP.

Open letter to Nigel Farage
3rd October 2009Nikki is saying what most UKIP members are thinking. Setting aside the fact that this is the wrong time to be choosing a new leader and the lack of an inspiring candidate to take over from him (meaning no disrespect to any of the declared candidates) Farage is well liked by most UKIP members and he has done an excellent job so far in growing the party both physically and politically.
Re: Your Leadership
Dear Nigel,
After much consideration, I feel it is incumbent upon me to write you this letter. I beseech you to reconsider your resignation as Party Leader, for the sake of UKIP, our cause and, more importantly, our country.
In all good conscience, I cannot see the sense of an internal election, costing more than £25,000, less than six months prior to a General Election campaign. I think it essential for the party to keep its eye on the ball and prepare for the election.
I completely concur with your judgment that you have too many responsibilities and you must prioritise. However, I respectively suggest that, in the short term, you have chosen the wrong priorities. We need you to lead the fight here in the UK, to spearhead our campaign as only you can do.
I cannot understand why you can't delegate some of your Brussels responsibilities to one of your 12 MEPs. You could still hold the title of EFD Co-President and give your wonderful plenary speeches but spend only six days a month in the parliament (as promised in your leadership election campaign).
You led us to an historic victory this year and have taken us to the centre ground of British politics, winning Labour strongholds such as Stoke, Newcastle under Lyme, Dudley, Plymouth , Sunderland, Hartlepool and others. Yet UKIP did not win one single Conservative stronghold and, if you step down, the party could be seen once again as an offshoot of the Tory party if the leadership race went as many expect, thereby costing us votes.
I also ask you to honour your pledge to the UKIP members - who elected you for a four-year term - to see out that commitment. The last thing the party needs now is a couple of months navel gazing. We certainly need a debate on the direction of the party in the near future but preferably after a General Election. If we are to have a leadership race, a race that will elect a leader, according to our constitution, not just for the forthcoming General Election but for the next European Election and possibly a second General Election, we must debate some key issues now in order to give a new leader a strong mandate.
This mandate will have to make difficult decisions, such as UKIP’s inclusion in a pan-European party, that you recently proposed we support. I feel that we, as MEPs representing UKIP’s best interests, could not go forward with this unless it is debated and voted on at conference. So I am glad to learn the proposal has been shelved for this year.
To conclude, Nigel, I ask you please to lead UKIP into the General Election and help increase our support across the Country whilst winning Buckingham and taking UKIP to a new level. Only you can do this, Nigel. Please do not desert us now. All UKIP MEPs will, I know, support you in return, to help you become the first UKIP MP.
If you choose to stay as Leader, I would not put my name forward in the leadership ballot and would urge others to do likewise.
Yours
Nikki
I have sent the following to Nigel this morning:
Dear Nigel,If you would like to add your weight to the campaign to get Nigel to reconsider, you can email him at nigel.farage@europarl.europa.eu.
Having read Nikki Sinclaire's open letter to you asking that you reconsider your decision to resign as leader, I would like to echo those sentiments and also ask you to reconsider.
You have been an effective figurehead for UKIP and are well known and trusted by both the membership and the electorate.
I understand your reasons for standing down as leader but I feel that your workload could be cut to benefit you and the party. With all due respect to the declared candidates, there are no other high profile or inspiring candidates for the leadership. This is not a reflection on the candidates, it is a product of the media's interest in you and the way the party is currently set up with the leader as spokesman for everything. We are no longer a minority party on the fringe, it is time this was reflected in our public figures.
I would like to suggest that you hand over as much of your duties as is practical to others within the party. To help achieve this - and to broaden the range of public figures we have in the party - I would suggest you appoint policy spokesmen (a shadow cabinet of sorts) to represent the party in the media. This will not only help you reduce your workload and allow you to stay on as leader, it will also increase the profile of senior party members so that when the time comes to choose a new leader in future, we have more public figures to choose from.
I believe that the best thing for our party - and by extension for our country - is for you to lead us into the next general election as leader of the party and following the election as leader of a group of UKIP MPs in the House of Commons.
Regards,
Stuart Parr

Edit:
Nikki has started an online petition for Nigel to remain as leader.

Nikki Sinclaire: Today we lost a battle on a foreign field but the war is far from lost
It is with great disappointment that I learn of the ‘Yes’ result in the second Irish Referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. There can be no doubt that the true democratic process has been subverted with lies, clear deception and veiled threats.
The Treaty passed today is exactly the same as the Treaty rejected by the Irish people last June. Certain guarantees have been given but hold no water legally.
The Irish ‘NO’ was not respected by the EU and the staggering difference today lies in the economic scare mongering by the Irish political elite at the behest of their EU masters. The Lisbon Treaty will not help the beleaguered Irish economy yet many Irish citizens believed the veiled threats with memories of the ‘good times’ when they were heavy net benefactors of the EU. Those times will never come back to Ireland. The Irish people clearly could see that when they rejected the Nice Treaty (that allowed the enlargement of the EU into Eastern Europe). They were given guarantees told to vote again then the guarentees were subsequently discarded, mass immigration ensued that has changed Ireland with most EU subsidy now resting in Eastern Europe.
I am proud that along with all my UKIP MEP colleagues we donated approximately £10,000 each to the ‘No’ campaign out of our communication budget. This paid for a leaflet to every household in Ireland.
Unlike the EU, I have respect for the Irish people and their decision.
We must however concentrate on our own efforts to fight this Treaty and continued EU membership. We cannot afford to hope that we will be saved by a foreign country or by some magical legal loophole. This country was not build on dreams.
We must take the fight to the political elite at every opportunity. Each one of us must ask ‘what can I do to save my country?’ Every leaflet we deliver, every letter we write to a newspaper, every chance we have to raise the subject we must seize. Only the British people can save Britain.
We cannot rely either on the Lib Lab Con who have failed to respect and represent the views of the electorate. No one under the age of 53 has ever been asked their views on the EU, those over 53 were blatantly lied to by the same political skulduggery that influenced the result today.
Today we lost a battle on a foreign field but the war is far from lost.

Mystery, intrigue and rumour - a day in the life of UKIP!
This naturally met with some pretty robust opposition. UKIP contests EU elections to get funding, oppose stupid directives, take the piss out of the eurofederalists in their own parliament and to get information that we wouldn't normally get. The general consensus is that creating a pan-EU party like Libertas would be a step too far, too much like joining the establishment.
The story goes that at the MEPs meeting this was suggested, they were told that up to £900k in funding was available from the European Empire and that all MEPs present bar 2 were in favour.
Once I'd got off my soap box I decided to get some first hand information. First things first, I confirmed that the meeting had taken place and that this had been discussed by talking to a couple of MEPs. Satisfied that it had, indeed, happened I emailed all the MEPs asking for the meeting to be put in context:
I have so far had an email from Nigel Farage's office and one from Gerard Batten and phone calls from Nikki Sinclair, Mike Nattrass and Nigel Farage.Dear MEP,As it has been confirmed that the possibility of UKIP joining or forming a pan-EU party was discussed at the the MEPs meeting, can you now please put this into context? The reaction so far to the news that it was even discussed has been overwhelmingly negative and to leave the rumour mill running without a clear and unequivocal statement from the party is unhelpful. Was this proposed to the party, either internally or by the EU, or was it simply exercising due dilligence? If it was proposed, from whom did this proposal come? Which MEPs supported the idea and which MEPs opposed it? Is it safe to assume that the promises to resign if it ever happens from many members on the UKIP members' forum is enough to ensure that this isn't going to be considered now or in the future? £900k (if that figure is correct) is a lot of money to a party our size but there won't be much to spend it on if we don't have any members.Regards,Stuart ParrBloggers4UKIP
Nikki and Mike both said they were opposed to the idea of a pan-EU party although they differed on how serious a suggestion it was. Nigel, meanwhile, was quite enthusiastic about the idea and didn't understand what the opposition to it was about. So I explained what I understood the opinion of members to be based on my own feelings about it and what had been said on the UKIP members' forum.
Nigel is quite adamant this isn't a party but a grouping, an alliance. He said that UKIP would not change one bit, it would carry on as it does now but it would have another grouping in addition to the Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) group that UKIP leads. The difference between the EFD group and this new group would be that it would contain other eurosceptic parties that might not have any MEPs, enabling UKIP to lead a much larger group that can take a share of the £10m budget the European Empire has set aside for these groups. This would help to grow eurosceptic parties in other member states and hopefully produce a whole batch of eurosceptic MEPs that UKIP can align with if we still haven't got ourselves out of the EU by the time the next EU election comes along.
If this version of the story is correct then I think it's something to be welcomed. But that's assuming there isn't more to it and there is still some doubt amongst the membership as to whether there might be. The idea that 9 or 10 UKIP MEPs have gone native is pretty unbelievable to be honest and I find it very hard to believe that they would join the EU establishment.
But if the other version of the story is correct - that UKIP will be subsumed into an EU party - then that is totally unacceptable. Unlike the Tories, UKIP members won't accept their party embracing the European Empire and will reject it overwhelmingly when it's put to a ballot of the membership.
My gut feeling is that there has been a pretty fundamental misunderstanding over the nature of this suggested new grouping but I guess we will have to wait until after the NEC meeting on Monday, following which Farage has promised to release a statement setting out the party's position. Unless, that is, any of the other MEPs comes out with a startling revelation in the meantime.
