Nick Clegg admits he lied about the Queen supporting Brexit

Nick Clegg has admitted lying about the Queen's criticism of the EU in the run-up to the referendum.

The Sun ran a story during the referendum campaign saying that the Queen had expressed support for Brexit in a meeting with Nick Clegg when he was Deputy Prime Minister. She reportedly complained that the EU had overshadowed the Commonwealth and didn't know why we couldn't just leave.

Clegg initially said he couldn't remember if it was true but then changed his mind overnight and categorically denied the claim, describing it as nonsense and "A-grade, 24-carat bilge". The Palace even made a complaint to IPSO who said that the Sun shouldn't have used the headline they did but didn't rule that the story was inaccurate. BBC political editor, Laura Kuenssberg, backed up the story after the referendum.

Now Clegg has admitted to the New Statesman that the Queen did, in fact, get "grumpy" about the EU and regretted the way the EU was eclipsing the Commonwealth. This is the second time he's changed his mind and the Lib Dems are still in damage limitation mode, denying that Clegg referred to the queen as grumpy.

Last year Nick Clegg responded to Nigel Farage's warnings about plans for an EU army by describing it a "dangerous fantasy". He went on to say "it's not going to happen" and that Jean Claude Juncker "can't create an army".

Perhaps it was the shock of finding out that not only can Jean Claude Juncker create an EU army but that he's actually doing it that resulted in Nick Clegg enthusiastically calling for the UK to join the new EU army despite voting to leave the EU.

Details of plans for an EU army headquartered in Germany (of course) were leaked in May but to prevent full details being exposed before the referendum the EU refused to send them to national governments until we had voted.

Poll suggests Nick Clegg will lose his seat in May

Opinion polling by Lord Ashcroft has put Labour 2 points head of the Lib Dems in Nick Clegg's constituency of Sheffield Hallam.

Nearly a fifth of Sheffield Hallam's voting population is students with two universities in the city. Clegg spectacularly backtracked on his very public pledge to abolish tuition fees and voted to increase the university tax in England from £3k a year to £9k.

It's understandable that students would want to punish Clegg for breaking his promise on tuition fees but it's a little strange that they would choose to do that by switching to the party that introduced them in the first place. It was the Labour Party that first introduced tuition fees in England and they were so unpopular that a majority of MPs elected in England voted against them forcing Labour to whip their Scottish MPs to force the vote through undemocratically.

Labour introduced the university tax in England, the Conservatives and Lib Dems tripled it and only UKIP has a policy of abolishing it for degrees in core subjects such as nursing and engineering. If the people of Sheffield Hallam want to punish those responsible for condemning students to tens of thousands of pounds of debt then the only way to do this is by voting UKIP.

Treasury expose Lib Dem lies about 3m EU jobs

The Treasury have exposed the Lib Dems for lying about 3m jobs being lost if we leave the EU.

During the EU election campaign and the televised debates between Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage the Lib Dems repeated the lie that the latest Treasury analysis said that 3m jobs would be put at risk if we left the EU. The Treasury has now belatedly said that the analysis says no such thing and uses a 10 year old methodology.

UKIP's Deputy Leader, Paul Nuttall MEP, said:

There is no doubt that UK would continue to export to the EU after withdrawal from it and the alleged 3 million jobs loss bandied around by Europhiles such as the Lib Dems is nothing more than inaccurate scaremongering.

We live in a global market, and no one believes that if we left the EU companies like Renault would stop selling their cars here and sack the dealership staff, yet that is what Clegg's figures assume. Likewise, France's population aren't going to stop buying our goods and services.

Clegg made very few attempts to defend our membership of the EU, spending most of the hour-long debate making bizarre personal attacks on Farage.

Farage put Clegg in his place last night

Last night's LBC leaders' debate between Nigel Farage and Nick Clegg went brilliantly for Nigel with every opinion poll showing that he won the debate hands down.

The media were desperately spinning for Clegg last night but even the Guardian and Huffington Post - both avowedly anti-UKIP publications - had to agree that Farage put Clegg in his place and emerged as the most credible of the two.

If you didn't get a chance to listen to the debate last night then the good news is you can watch the whole thing on YouTube and we heartily recommend that you do because it'll show you why Cowardly Cameron and and Meek Miliband were too scared to debate Nigel Farage.

The Lib Dem press office have been trying to spin the results of the YouGov snap poll by cherry picking comments by YouGov's boss Peter Kellner about the audience for their poll having a disproportionate number of UKIP supporters to suggest that the odds were stacked against Nick Clegg. Guido points out that what they forgot to pick out of Kellner's comments was the bit where he said that if they hadn't adjusted the figures to take into account the UKIP bias then instead of 57% of respondents saying that Nigel Farage won the debate against Nick Clegg's 36%, it would have instead been 65% to 25% in Farage's favour.

Nick Clegg has challenged Nigel Farage to a debate on the LBC radio station on whether we should stay in the EU or leave.

Farage has raised the stakes and told Clegg to get Cameron and Miliband on as well and make it a proper leaders' debate.

Even though Nigel Farage is the most popular party leader (on the odd occasion polling companies ask) and most people in the country want out of the EU, a debate on LBC would still be a tough gig because it's a London radio station and support for the EU and unfettered immigration runs high in a city where only 45% of the population are "white British".

That said, any credibility Nick Clegg might have had in an EU debate is destroyed by the fact that as a former EU commissioner he is obliged to promote the EU at all times and never to criticise the EU or its institutions publicly or he will lose his EU pension. And that's before you get onto his vacuous claims about millions of jobs and world peace relying on the EU.

Nigel Farage will undoubtedly wipe the floor with Clegg on the EU and any other topic for discussion that comes up because both Clegg and the Lib Dems are wrong on pretty much everything, as evidenced by their rapid decline into obscurity in opinion polls and at the ballot box. Although it would be nice to hold out for the other two europhile leaders to get in on the act it's not going to happen because whilst Clegg has nothing to lose, being about as popular as a dog poo sandwich, it would be electoral suicide for the other two to try and debate Nigel Farage. By saying no to a one on one with Clegg in the hope that Cameron and Miliband will join in, Farage will look weak. He should accept the offer, wipe the floor with Clegg and use Clegg's rare show of backbone to shame Cameron and Miliband into live televised debates with the three main parties plus the Lib Dems.

There is a poll on the LBC website on who you think would win the debate between Clegg and Farage. It's a fairly close-run thing but Farage is out in front at the moment.

In all reality it would be better for us to just give them the Churchill Salute and go our separate ways and negotiate a trade agreement.

Britain was yesterday threatened with having to quit the European Union if it refuses to 'kowtow' to Strasbourg's human rights judges.The warning was delivered by the new head of the European Court of Human Rights, amid an increasing determination among Tory Cabinet ministers to leave its jurisdiction.Judge Dean Spielmann, from Luxemburg, also insisted that ministers had a duty to grant the vote to prisoners.

His intervention once again puts the unelected court on a collision course with Westminster.Technically, the EU and the European Court of Human Rights are separate institutions, with the ECHR overseen by the 47-member Council of Europe.But Mr Spielmann opted to combine two of the most explosive issues in British politics by saying that, if we want to leave the court, we may also have to exit the EU.
His logic was that quitting the court would mean also exiting the Council of Europe. He added no state had ever been a member of the EU without first joining the council.Mr Spielmann said: 'That would plainly be a political disaster.'Any member state who would leave the Council of Europe, who would denounce the convention, would lose its credibility when it comes to promoting human rights also in different parts of the world.'Last night, MPs said they would not give in to threats - particularly where they involved Britain's membership of the EU.

The truly pathetic Nick Clegg

Just when you thought the esteem in which he is held couldn't sink any lower, Nick Clegg has surpassed himself.

"Gay Marriage is inevitable" he declared today, adding for good measure that it "must happen now" and that "opponents would not stop the change".

Now, you may think that gay marriage should be brought in now, but to state it must be suggests some form of time dependency that flies completely in the face of its supposed "inevitability". (Incidentally a very  weak intellectual argument in itself - 'inevitable' in the same way that Britain joining the Euro was 'inevitable', eh, Nick? But I digress.)

But the reason one suspects that gay marriage must be brought in now has more to do with the fact that Clegg is deeply concerned about his own political legacy than about gay people who want to get spliced. Acutely aware that he has precious little to show for his time in the British political sun, which is perhaps already past it's meridian, and maybe fearing that Britain's exclusion from the coming FiskalUnion will consign him to second-rank status upon his return to Brussels, Clegg perhaps senses that his career will be judged a failure and is thus desperate to get gay marriage and Lord's reform through Parliament.

But the true arrogance of the man was revealed in his remark that  "opponents would not stop the change". Really? So it's already decided? So the will of Parliament and democracy counts for nothing? With break-taking hypocrisy, later in the day he attacked the undemocratic nature of the House of Lords. A perfectly valid point in itself, but rather rich from a man who had, notoriously, been all in favour of a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty and when the rubber hit the road told his troops to abstain.

Clegg is the poster child for the over-privileged Metropolitan Liberal Classes. The living embodiment of the fact that high intelligence and wisdom are very often negatively correlated. He clearly lacks all self-awareness and cannot see the discrepancy in attacking the internships he directly benefited from when  a young man, or promoting gay marriage at the same time as sending his children to Roman Catholic schools, or denouncing the Lords as undemocratic while worshipping at the altar of the European Union.

The man is simply wretched. Let us hope at the next election we will finally see the back of him.

German conspiracy to prevent EU referendum in UK

Ein Reich, Ein Volk, Ein Währung!

A leaked memo from the German foreign ministry shows that the Germans are desperate to avoid a referendum in the UK on the changes they need to various EU treaties to create the Fourth Reich.

Germany has plans for an EU Monetary Fund and for the eurozone and eventually the whole EU to turn into a political union but mindful of previous problems with countries holding referenda on treaty changes which keep giving the wrong answer, the German foreign ministry has advised Angela Merkel to keep treaty changes to a minimum so it doesn't trigger referenda.

Limiting the effect of the treaty changes to the eurozone states would make ratification easier, which would nevertheless be required by all EU member states (thereby less referenda could be necessary, which could also affect the UK)

When David Cameron instructed Tory MPs to vote against a referendum on the EU the other week he said that now was the wrong time to hold a referendum and that they would instead be seeking to repatriate powers from the EU.  However, the plan to repatriate powers has already been dropped.  When asked about plans to insist on powers being returned to the British government in exchange for ratifying the Fourth Reich Treaty, a British government official said:

I don’t think that anyone is seriously proposing going down that route

I can't find my shocked face so I'll have to stick with my sarcastic "what a surprise" face instead.  It is a well known fact that the Lisbon Treaty has no provision for returning powers to member states, only to take more powers - the Tories have no intention to try and repatriate powers from the EU because they know as well as everyone else that it is a one-way street where transfers of power are concerned.

Der Spiegel quotes the eurofanatic Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, saying:

The idea that one could simply get on to the Eurostar, go over to Brussels and come back with a bag-load of powers simply is not feasible

Clegg also says that only "populists, chauvinists and demagogues" would benefit from a debate about taking power away from the EU.  The majority of the population would benefit from that kind of debate but of course he's talking about David Cameron so let's see what it is that Nick Clegg finds so repulsive:

Populist: a person, esp a politician, who appeals to the interests or prejudices of ordinary people
Chauvinist: a person who is aggressively and blindly patriotic, especially one devoted to military glory
Demagogue: a political agitator who appeals with crude oratory to the prejudice and passions of the mob

I think it's safe to say that one thing you can't accuse David Cameron of is being blindly patriotic - he's a traitor who is happily handing over the country he was elected to govern to unelected fascists and crooks in Brussels.  And as for crude oratory: Cameron is far from a crude orator, he managed to deceive millions of people during the election into thinking that the Tories were eurosceptic.  You don't pledge to keep the UK in the EU in public and convince eurosceptics to not only vote for you but join your party and promote a pro-EU agenda with crude oratory!  I think we can also rule out appealing to the interests or prejudices of ordinary people - he actually threatened his own MPs with the sack if they voted for a referendum despite a large majority of the population being in favour of a referendum

The Daily Mail has a handy table of 10 year bond yields - the interest rate the pay on the money they borrow - for €urozone members and the UK.  Greece is promising to pay a whopping 28.88% interest on any money it raises from issuing bonds, compared to just 2.18% for the UK.  A 28.88% interest rate is expensive but affordable if you're talking about a couple of grand on a credit card and you're paying the interest bit by bit every money.  If you're paying it as a lump sum on billions of pounds, it's certainly not affordable and it's not sustainable.

The front page of today's Daily Mail leads with the news that the German Finance Minister says the UK will be forced to join the €uro and "faster than some people on the British island think".  I think most people in the UK would agree with me when I say that hell will freeze over before I will carry round a pocketful of €uro in my own country!

Italian Cabinet to be 100% unelected

The EU's new man in Italy, Prætor Mario Monti, has appointed his first cabinet today.

Like Monti, all 17 members of the cabinet are unelected and all are academics and economists.  The Italians have had a nationalist, corporatist government in living memory which didn't exactly go well yet according to an opinion poll by the Piepoli Institute, 53% of Italians support an unelected technocratic government.

The EU has now deposed two democratically elected leaders and installed eurocrats in their place.  Lord Tebbit suggests that the EU would be quite happy to install Nick Clegg as PM here if Cameron forgets which side of his bread is buttered.

One of Angela Merkel's cronies, the nationalist socialist homophobe, Volker Kauder, says that the UK should fall into line and stop opposing the Tobin Tax which would devastate our economy.  If Cameron doesn't capitulate on the Tobin Tax, will we see an attempt to overthrow the British government and install the euro extremist Clegg in his place?

Clegg confirms Cameron's referendum lie

Nick Cleggover has formally announced Camoron's intention to deprive us of another promised referendum on the EU Constitution/Lisbon Treaty.

Camoron promised a "referendum lock" which would prevent any more powers being transferred to the EU or new treaties without a referendum.  It's been 6 months since he lied himself into power and since then he's handed over control of the financial sector to an EU regulator, approval of the national budget budget to an EU quango and signed up to the EU diplomatic corps representing our "interests" abroad.  How many referenda have we had?  None.

Now France and Germany want more powers for the EU over the economies of member states to help them prop up the Euro and to legalise the EU bailout of Greece.  The new powers will require a change to the Lisbon Treaty.  A change to the Lisbon Treaty requires a referendum, the Tories said so less than two months ago:

The lock will mean that any future treaty amendment which seeks to transfer power from the UK to Brussels will require a referendum in this country

Of course Camoron and Cleggover say that the new powers will only apply to members of the Euro but Herman van Rumpy-Pumpy says that the changes he has been asked to come up with will apply to all member states.

How do rank and file Tories put up with this constant betrayal from their leaders?  Almost every day another deceit is exposed, another promise broken, another lie told.  How can their members keep faith in their party when they are repeatedly deceived and their long-held principals abandoned to further the federalist agenda?  I can understand Tory MPs, MEPs and Councillors putting their careers and expenses before their principals but what about the majority of the rapidly declining membership (about 10k per year decline according to this source) who pay to be lied to?

Why ask if you're going to ignore the answer?

The BBC has been asking members of the public what laws they would repeal in a "Great Repeal Bill" following the launch of a new website fronted by Nick Clegg asking members of the public which laws they would do away with.

I imagine that most UKIP members - and, in fact, most members of the public - would put the European Communities Act at or near the top of the list.  So if leaving the EU comes out top of the wishes on this new website, we can expect the British government to start making arrangements to leave, right?  After all, Cleggy says "For the first time in a long time, government is listening and we'll put the best suggestions into practice" so it's reasonable to assume that Cleggy and Cast Iron Dave are going to listen to the electorate and when it's clear that voters think leaving the EU is the best suggestion, we can expect them to do the honourable thing, yes?

Presenter: You saw some of the ideas there and you know this is a very basic straw poll but it's probably resonating with quite a few people. Will you take any notice?

Cleggy: Well I don't think we can scrap football and I don't think we can sort of get rid of Europe but look we're turning things on its head. The traditional way of doing things is that government tells people what to do, that's the old way of doing things. We're saying tell us what you don't want us to do. We've already made a big start. We're already scrapping ID cards, we're gonna scrap rules, these vetting and barring rules that were stopping people from just helping their neighbours children, we're gonna stop the fingerprinting of children in schools without parental permission. We're doing a lot of these things already but we want to hear more from people and if you go online it'll be the biggest online crowd sourcing initiative by any government ever and it'll really I think get the ball rolling to get people involved and to make people feel they're in charge as well.

Presenter: So you get ideas in but what level of support does it take then for you to do something about it?  I mean if enough people said we want to get out of Europe on that site you'd have to do something about it wouldn't you?

Cleggy: No. Look, clearly as the lady said on the programme at the end of the day the government needs to decide. The key thing about this is that while ministers might be able to disagree with some of the suggestions, the suggestions will be out there.

Cleggy, like so many other politicians, seems to have forgotten that they are our servants, not the other way round.  They are elected to represent our interests and run the country how we want it run.  If most of us want out of the EU - and we do - then it is not for MPs to decide otherwise.
